Hi All
Just wondering if is possible to adapt the BA-BF Turbo crossover pipe (The black thing on the top of the rocker cover that says "Turbo Intercooled") Onto an earlier model car. It looks like it would but has anyone done it? Thanks guys |

so basically all it is is just two pipes running parellel to each other and so they've joined them so there firm and kept in place.
I'd be guessing that sicne all turbo work on I6's pre BA is custom, it'd depend on what set up has been done weather or not yo0u can actually run that in there. or not (I mean if you put the air intake on the other side of the engine then that's no good to you as it is going to the wrong side). |

Yea, thats what I thaught. I only want it for a neatness thing but it will have it drawbacks. I would only be able to run an XR6T Or F6 Intercooler and I would only be able to run a pannel filter. But at the same time, I wouldnt have to relocate my battery.

You wouldn't HAVE to run an XR6T or F6 intercooler, just get a custom intercooler made up, same side exit/entry.
And why would you have to run a panel filter? The only drawback I see in using it, is over complicated piping that will be long enough to sap some boost response.

i wouldn't be basing any turbo setup on the use of a particular set of pipework

I wouldnt have to run a pannel filter. I would just be keeping the original air filter location on the left hand side of the engine bay. But I do agree with the lenght of the piping. The only advantages it does have is that I can use alot of the original piping. Eg: From the airbox to the Crossover and from the crossover to the throttle body. Really, Its probably just better to run some new pipes with a front mount. Better Street Cred

also that piping looks like it changes shape and that through there prolly not so desirable?

I noticed that as well. One of them is tiny, unless it is just angled down or somthing!

if all you are after is a mild turbo setup, you could track down all the XR6T gear (there would be plenty of it floating around by now) and use it all.
Make your turbo and manifold so that every thing plumbs in. would be a very 'factory' looking turbo setup. |

I totally agree with what you said . . . plus there are plenty of BA model turbos that keep the pipewrok and use a different (better) intercooler. I plan on changing the intercooler and also the pipework on my BF xr6 turbo ute . . . its all about going custom. Or you can buy the kits from ebay or if u want www.intunemotorsport.com.au sell kits for BA turbos.

I like the sounds of things here! I probably wouldnt use the cross over setup, I like the aggresive look of a massive front mount and the ones on ebay are nice and cheap! The piping and what not I can get easily (The joys of being a trades assistant. Plus, all our pipe is stainless, light, and finished in chrome!)
Does any one know what the BA XR6T Injectors are capable of handling? Would they be fine around the 1 bar of boost area? Thanks for your input guys! |

for the money and modification to the exhaust, getting the turbo, BOV etc, why not supercharge and use the big front mount intercooler as well, might be another option to look at

Cheaper to go Turbo believe it or not! Not only that, I prefer the sound of a turbo over a super!
