I read this in tele yesterday. Ford has admitted that there is an overboosting problem with XR6 Turbo causing it to hesitate under hard acceleration. To fix this, Ford dealership had been quietly loading new software into all Xr6T when they come back for service without telling the owners. Before you leave your car for service, make sure to clarify whether loading this new software can affect performance.

There are few owners saying their overboosting problem is gone not knowing Ford might have already loaded the new program into their ECU.

It is not just your imagination i wish people would pull their fingers out and do research before they assume they know everything.

Readem and weep you none beleivers, extract for a turbo forum I visit.

The popular topic "Wheres the power gone" has been in the Sunday Telegraph today. A post in the tpoic from journo has posted his story today quoting posts from our topic and pictures. His story stating that Ford is dropping power figures from XR6T's with the flash. All his evidence is just from this forum as quoted, and a couple of T owners. All though his story does have some truth in it, to me it just seems like a chance to have a shot at the XR6T. Thats just my view but maybe Ford will see this and wake up, and our Forum is now even more popular...

I have not edited this as some would but there are a lot of T owners asking for their cars not to be flashed. I willl be one of them.

And i take it you have one or even knoow someone that has one.Well I do and know people who have had the flash done and yes the car does not go as hard.I twas brought out to have the overboost problem solve ,which mine doesn`t suffer from so I will be asking them not to load the latest update.

Interesting, what do you do at ford ? It's not enough to say"i work at Ford", so do cleaners (& no disrispect meant to any cleaners) :)

Has Ford made any formal press release to clarify what they are or are not doing ?

Don't really know what's going on with these 'firmware upgrades' but i am sure most people would not be very happy if they test drove a car that had a sharp responce only to have the maker fiddle with it to keep their warrenty claims in check.

If this is try, it's really poor customer relations and Ford should be wrapped hard on the knuckles.

Cheers.

The obvious alternative is that they (Ford) do nothing and then every bastard b**ch about his XR6-T not making warranty. So if you ask them not to carry out the flash are you going to take it on the chin when you blow the engine? Perhaps it won't happen immedietly, but what about in a couple of years when it's out of warranty? I bet that in 5 years it'll be a point of sale whether it was flashed early or late in it's service history... just think about it.
