Hey guys,
I have a mate who owns a BA XR6. He has slowly purchased all the main turbo bits off various XR6T wrecks, and we now have everything ready. I have a few questions. What are the main differences between the engines in the NA XR, and the XR6T? Injectors, rods, fuel reg? Please tell me and explain the difference! One thing we do not have is the ECU. Is there any differences in the wiring looms between the NA and the turbo? Will I need to add any wiring for the turbo ECU? Also, how does the return oil line in the XR6T work? Is there a bung for the fitting in both the NA and turbo sumps or are they different? Where do the water lines come and go from? Is it the heater tap? What is the size of the thread I need for a oil T-piece on the pressure switch? Where does the wastegate get its vacuum line from? If someone can answer these questions, I would be very grateful! Also, if there is anything else anyone thinks is relevant, please post it up! Photos would be awesome too! Cheers! Braiden.

I'll just comment on what I know 100%
Pistions are different, wiring loom is different. IMO its a waste of time buying all the parts, just purchase a long motor

XR6T gets inconel exhaust valves.
And also a turbo.

You will need to get the new ECU to link up to your ICC (via ford). The stock ECU cant hold the information required for turbo charging.

Also, diferent driveshaft, diff. I've heard people running 2-250rwkw on a barra 182 engine with no major problems but its still a big strain, like previously said, long motor is the best option.

One thing we do not have is the ECU. Is there any differences in the wiring looms between the NA and the turbo? Will I need to add any wiring for the turbo ECU? Fuel reg is higher pressure, but injectors and rods are the same. The only stronger rods in the BA are in the Egas and FPV F6 engines. 6T has a 2-bar TMAP sensor, sodium-filled exhaust valves and a secondary boost sensor IIRC, which defeats attempts to use a Fuel Cut Defender. The secondary boost sensor requires wiring which isn't in the non-turbo loom. Not sure if the ECU needs to be replaced or can just be reflashed to XR6T spec.

turbo pistons are dished with 8.7:1 compression while n/a pistons are flat with 9.7:1.
different exhaust valves on the T. i was running 270rwkw on a n/a ba motor, everything was fine. only thing is too much comp so u cant put much timing into it. |

Whats this "long motor" thing? Aside from the obvious (being an engine) Whats the difference between a standard NA 182 engine and the turbo engine? |

Sly the rods in the Turbo motor ARE VERY MUCH different then the N/A motor.
I think ford had it in a broucher that the E-Gas motor has the same rods as the Turbo motor so yes they are different but ur right about the injectors been the same thats why once u mod a turbo even just the littlest bit u need bigger injectors

Egas and turbo engine have the same internals... comp is different and clearly so is the cam, along with the other lil pieces....

Turbos run a higher pressure fuel reg with the same injectors.
I was of the understanding E-gas motors used the F6 rods. And turbo and NA rods were the same, apart from a floating pin on the turbs.

Nar its the XR6Turbo motor that they share the same rods with.
Your mate would be better off as everyone else is saying buying a long turbo motor
