Anyone know the size of the Ford BA Falcon XR6 Turbo intercooler? Think it's a Garret or something.

No I think he wants to know the size of the XR6T intercooler which he thinks is a Garret.

didnt know garret made intercoolers ,as that name is usally assoicated with turbo's not coolers ,but im prob wrong

Yeah after the size of the intercooler. I'm sure I read somewhere that they were also made/designed by Garret.

Anyone know if buying a larger cooler (i.e. a Phoon cooler) will increase power output by anything spesh or is the money spent better elsewhere (other than a flash tune) ?

My half brother (whose giving me his old cooler, hence my question) initially purchased a Hybrid intercooler kit (upgraded cooler than replaces the factory one, aswell as upgraded mandrell bent induction piping - were as far as I know PWR and the Typhoon coolers only replace the inercooler not the induction piping, and some tests have showed thatt there's potential for gains by shortening the long factory induction piping). Anyways he was very happy with it, only downside being he could hear more noise, turbo flutter he calls it, from the engine. He already has an SS Induction snorkel and K&N air filter.
He's now got a flash tune and running the generic 10psi tune, which he's estatic with now that it's running fine (has issues with the factory Iridium spark plugs - gone to standard NGK's regapped and it's sorted that out).
He's also added the 2nd Typhoon cold air intake.

Well it's not actually for a BA XR6T.
I have a freebie BA XR6T cooler on it's way, and I have a 600 x 300 x 75 aftermarket cooler here that I'm yet to pay for, but it's bloody big. Trying to figure out if the BA one is gunna be large enough, or if I need the large one, or alternatively, something inbetween the two maybe.

Keep the large one.

I went from stock intercooler and 2 inch piping on the turbo side and 2.5 on the intake side to 3 inch piping on the intake side and 2 - 2.5 - 3inch on the turbo side with a 300*600*100 core and the car became way more responsive. Im only running a small standard turbo as well.

The stock ba cooler is a pos. Gains of up to 20rwkw have been seen by replacing the cooler alone. I put a wog cooler on stock pipes and stock tune on mine and it made heaps of difference, especially to throttle response. And as for the "turbo flutter" it is slightly louder, but it only occurs when backing off the throttle while on boost and sounds somewhat like a wastegate, it sounds really good. Heres a pics to compare the stock cooler to a wog cooler
