Just did it to mine and it flys... for 900 and 100 for filter you get into mid 200wkws and close to 12s.

Best bang for buck car in YEARS

Mid 200wkws? As in 250, thats bloody good. But arent the LS1 dudes getting similar numbers from their VTs and VXs?

Just a question, seriously considering one of these suckers as my next car, its just the 6 speeds are out of my range :(

yeah expect 235ish from a generic tune and up to 290 for a custom tune, still retaining stock injectors.
Stock intercooler is a restriction but ok for 235wkws...

In dollar terms your looking at 100 for KN filter, 70 for typhoon/BF xr8 lower air in take, 900 for flash tune box. These should get you to 240wkws, add a intercooler, 500 and better custom tune, 500 and your looking at 265 to 280 depending on who tunes it.
Thats about 2 grand for close to 280wkws and easy 12s and it'll be as quiet and well mannered as a stocker... different story and $$ to get that from an LS1

i would say std injectors would need tossing over ya shoulder at 260 odd kw, thats about when most people change them, and also for 290kw, i would bet the std fuel pump would be out of puff...

Bloody hell that sounds like good value and in the mighty falcon too! Pitty the 6 speeds are still so pricy, damn dark side looking pretty good for 20K,

Just plug it in, it tunes the factory computer, before you take the car in to get serviced, plug it back it and tune it to the factory settings. Just a push of the button. For the standard tunes, nothing else is needed.

I have been told that with the following mods:

- 2nd Typhoon CAI
- K&N Filter
- CAPA Flash Tuner

it would be a good idea to get a trans cooler fitted, and get new valve springs...

what are your Thoughts??

alslo - with the above mods, do you think I would need new/better injectors? or is that only if I get the wog cooler as well?

You will not need injectors for those mods even if you have a the wog cooler, i have wog cooler, k & n and capa flash tuner all on the stock injectors, dynoed at 255.5rwkw.

Also you will mjore then likely not need valve springs, i dont have them, but some vehicles have problems with the stock ones,

Trans cooler is deffiantely recomended, but not necessarily essential unles syou always flog it, i dont have a cooler fitted yet.

Hope that helps some.

It does help mate. cheers.

I think for the $150 - $250 that a trans cooler would cost, it would be money well spent hey!

what are the signs that your valve springs are crap or on the way out?

290ish on stock injectors is a bit optimistic mate. It has been done, but you wouldn't want to run that everyday. To give an idea, i have 968 injectors, walbro fuel pump, ASE intercooler, edit, 4inch magic cat, and centre muffler removed and i'm making 304rwkw nice and safely. Valve springs are my only limiting factor at the moment.

Stock intercooler has been proven to be quite good on cars making 280rwkw. I'd be doing the injectors before i worried about the cooler. The stock injectors are usually good for a safe 250rwkw depending on the car etc.

As a quick guide to cost, heres what i paid for the parts to get my power level -

hi flow cat and muffler removed - $550 installed
Intercooler - $850 not installed, but got that done by a mate
Injectors - $570 Again, not installed but got done by a mate
Fuel pump - $300ish
Edit - $1600ish for custom tuning 95ron map, 98 high performance (daily map) and my 98ron lower performance
Clutch - $1200 fitted
CAI - $300
So all up a tad over 5k. However, if you don't need the clutch it'll be cheaper. Pretty good bang for your buck.

Removing the centre muffler will not aid performance. Its really only for the sound. Gives a better note and sounds really good. If you had a strict budget, i'd get a custom tune, injectors. Should be good for around 270rwkw safely.

a mate of mine has just had an edit done and got 247rwkw. was told this was limit b4 new injectors req. maybe he's having his chain pulled. edit got done by graham west, who has a pretty good name in s.a. car got dynoed dead stock at hightek dyno and made 201rwkw which is on the healthy side. he then added 2nd intake (bf xr6t also have them as well as typhoon) and before edit on graham west dyno put out 210rwkw. car was strapped down. on the road the initial response off the line is not much diff but as revs rise above 2 -3000rpm its insane.

according to the previous posts stock injectors will handle more than the 247 he has or maybe the tuner was just playing it safe.

either way its good value for money. no other mods except intake so it seems very healthy to me.

adz - kpm seem pretty good going on the chats i've had with them. dyno day on 7th oct. not sure on their prices though. another mate priced cams and tune for his ba xr8 and they were over $1000 dearer than herrod (maughen thiem port adelaide). may be diff with a turb though.
typhoon/bf xr6t secondary intake can be got from any dealer for around $80. bout $140 for complete bottom of airbox.

It needs injectors and valve springs to get more power
thats what holds it back!

that is consistant with what my mate got told as well. he got custom tune @ 12psi.

all these people that claim 250rwkw + with stock injectors etc seem to contradict this. maybe they were on generous dyno's.

Ive got 255.5rwkw on stock injectors and valve springs ona dyno that deffinately isnt generous, last time they had a dyno day al the sydney guys were blowing up cos they were getting the figures they are used to. Chef got 265 from his with just the edit not even a bigger cooler, im nt sure where he got it done but i think it was crescent motor, not to sure though.
