well been working pretty hard these last few months and have baught myself a new exhaust and extractors and hi flow cat. now iv saved up around 3500. in another 9-10 months im hoping to have around 6000. I have already made up my mind that im going to go down the forced induction path. my question is pretty simple really, supercharge or turbo? i have pros and cons for each. My dad is a mechanic and has been working on cars all his life but we have one problem. he is no turbo expert and has never really had to work with them at all. he knows more about the art of supercharging than turbos. Basicly what im saying is that he could bolt it on and connect it up but when it comes to the ECU side of things he is no albert instine. i already know that im more likely to get more power from a turbo but for some strange reason im still leaning towards the Powerdyne Kit to suit the EA. how much kw am i looking at getting out of this kit? i just feel that if i was to get a turbo setup we would only be running into problems further on. i just need opinions on wheather i should put the money towards a supercharger or turbo. im not looking to blow the money on something thats going to s**t itself in 12 months time cause im having to work pretty hard for the money at the moment, cheers

Will 6g get you a supercharger up and running? If it will go the blower as you'll need close to double that to turbo properly (you can get away with less if your handy with the welder etc).

If you decide on the blower, go the stage 2 powerdyne kit IMO. You'd probably be looking at similar power to mine.

Beauty of the CAPA kits is that they are COMPLETE. Everything is included - including a chip to plug into the EEC. If you and your old man follow the instructions you should have no worries getting the setup up and running. I got most of mine done in a weekend... then a few nights after work and it was driveable. Got the chip from CAPA, sorted out a few things and was boosting withn about 2.5 weeks of getting the kit.

Considering what you get with the kit I'd definately say go the blow bro.

Your pistons will be fine....if u would like stronger/better ones for durability that will probably whcack your budget right out it think as set of ACL race series pistons costs anywhere from 1K+

ALso the fuel pump and injectors should be right for around and uo to 180rwkw dont quote me on that - Martin did u change your injectors of your blown setup - was like 170rwkw yeah ?

If you get the CAPA kits, there'sno real need to change your injectors as they supply you with a Rising Rate Regulator.
I don't know whether it would come with a new fuel pump as well, or not???

my polished vortech V2, s-trim is still up for grabs, still like new, ebay sale fell though, will relist it in a few days, but i will seperate it from the clevo brackets, and let the blower go for $2100, (they are a tad over $3k from capa, so you would be saving yourself $1k right there
brackets for 302/351 clevo + piping/ pullies belts etc etc $600[/b]

Southy,

Whatever is needed to get you up and running is provided. The kits vary between engine and stage. If the I6 kit needs a new fuel pump, it will come with an inline one (i.e. a booster pump) which i think comes on at a predetermined amount of boost.

If new injectors are needed, they will be included. But looking at the price of the kit, i doubt they are necessary. A vortech rising rate regulator (FMU) is provided. Probably a 12:1 for your kit.

CAPA are good to deal with on the phone, they may even fax you a parts listing if you are nice to them. Speak with justin if possible.

Forget about the internals - we're talking fairly low boost here.

Big kev - yeah standard injectors mate, with a 12:1 FMU so they are well and truly getting a workout. Does the trick tho - proven daily driver with enough go to hose off most contendors :)

Kcuf - that's a damn good price for a damn good looking blower. You shouldnt have any dramas selling at all.

because they bolt straight onto the MPFI manifold there is no way of fitting an intercooler. the blower is instead cooled by water injection...... (pretty sure anyway)
