Hey guys,
Looking to get a turbo timer on the bf ute. What do other fordmods members think are good brands and types? I have looked at a few apexi and blitz brands. I dont want a cheap imitation type. What is the gerneral concensus out there? What do other turbo owners have in their cars? (ps - no jap part jokes plz!)

Turbo timers arent necessary if you think in advance. You know where your going so you take it easy for the last couple of clicks, then let it idle for a few seconds to allow the turbo to wheel to slow down then shut it off. You dont want to be frashin it then turning it off thats for sure but expensive gadgest arent required if your careful and thoughtful. And remember, excess idling hurts engins.

Yep with water cooled housings and especially with ball bearing cartridge there is reason to have one..
I usually take my seat belt off then turn engine off.. Infact I find turbo and under bonnet temps rise when engine is idling...

Ive got a HKS timer on my volvo, works fine. I like them for piece of mind as Ive gone through tonnes of turbos over the years... usually bearings getting clogged up with crusty oil
But yeah, water cooled turbo's dont really need much cool down as the core is cooled by water... It is fun to leave the car idling at the shops and just walk off |
