Still planning to drop a turbo DOHC in my EF Ghia next year. I've managed to collect most of the parts, even got myself a car to drive while my Ghia is off the road (EL Sapphire).

Have you guys converted an EF / EL with ABS yet?

Cheers

Ok first thing you wil need to do is modify the front bar of the K frame, we moved it all the way to the front of the K frame. You then have to modify the BF engines metal heater lines, we used rubber hose to join the exhaust side pipe to the intake side pipe, now the pipe on the intake side is from a el engine i forgot to take a pic but i will upload 1. If you are running a manual trans you will need to cut a section out of the barra sump casting to allow for the clutch cable, the Ed clutch & flywheel bolt straight up to the barra engine.

With the engine mount we welded the holes & re-drilled then 8mm lower to allow the engine clearence, you will still have to cut the centre brace out of the bonnet, The engine is now in the bay & i will upload more pic's & info soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks heaps mate. This is going to make my life so much easier. Mine is an el so I was going to copy what someone else on here has done with the k-frame. He cut a piece out of the front cross member and welded a right angle piece in for strength. To lower it he used spacers between the k-frame and the chassis. Is this still the best, or only way to do it? Do you think I could weld and redrill the actual bracket the engine mount bolts to? I've been told the sump can't be modified because of the pickup point.

ive done this conversion to my eb and i didnt need to lower the engine at all, just had to cut the bracing in the bonnet and it fits fine with standard mounting points..... :? is there any other reason for lowering it??
as for the ef el side of things know fordman didnt have to lower his either, also having the fairmont hood meant he didnt need to modify the bracing.

Cheers Jesse

Hey mate, when your engine is under load she will tap the bonnet, And you will have a nice outwards dent.

are there any other clearance issues that you have come across with the whole instal other then the bonnet? hows snug is the turbo against the strut tower?

Nah mate only the bonnet, Plenty of room between the turbo & the strut tower.
