My bosch plastic blow off valve is making this high pitch whistling noise at idle. Seems to get higher pitched as the revs increase to the point of it being so high my ears cant hear it. This only happened since I fitted my catch can.

Does anyone know if its stuffed?

Below is my catch can setup in case anyone is wondering.

hose from rear of motor to catch can. hose from PCV to catch can. hose from catch can to supercharger.

It bypasses unless it's under load driving or on a dyno or line locking dude.

our blow off valves are suppose to release air untill the engine vacuum drops eg underload or reasonable throttle.. mine releases air at idle but its more of a woosh sound not a wistle...

Thanks Troy. Do you reckon the spring in my bov is stuck or not opening properly at idle perhaps, causing the whistle?

while the engine is idling disconnect the vacuum hose to the blow off valve..
and if no air or sound comes from the bov it should be working fine..
if it has a week spring it will release pressure while no vacuum..

maybe its sticking slightly and not opening fully??
is there a lot of air coming out at idle /free reving??
if yes i say its ok??

There is a lot of air coming out of the bov at idle.

I will check the vacuum lines again and do what you suggested. Will be interesting to see if it makes any difference. I dont want to have to replace the bov unless absolutely necessary.

a slightly dif story-:

i had a valve f$ck up once, it stayed open all the time. it wasnt as loud as ur sayin ur is. just made a low hiss at all the time at idle. i could hardley acelerate @ all. ie only use 1/8 of the pedal under load, otherwise it would start missin like crazy!!
i still have a stock computer though & u have aftermarket judging by the pics?

yes Im running a flash tuner.

Im not noticing any massive power loss. But it would annoy me if I was and didnt know about it.
