Hey Guys,
As the title suggests, i am after some feedback on best position. I believe it should be as close as possible to the throttle body. Has anyone done this differently, say to suit intercooler piping, or just to be different. I did do a bit of a search, but could not find anything definitive. I have seen them near centrifugal blowers, so i am guessing these set-up are vastly different to turbo BOV's. It makes sense to let as much of the intake charge out as possible. BTW, my BOV is a plumb-back (XR6) one, not that i think this makes a difference. Cheers Daz

The ones on centrifugal blowers are bypass valves, looks almost identical to a xr6t blow off valve.
6 inches away from the throttle body would be fine.

I put mine over my exhaust manifold so that it may help cool it - since at idle it's open and letting air out.

This depate often come up on turbomustangs.com...
Some say close to throttle body... Other say on HOT side of intercooler so it vents HOT air... On our ED Fairmant its fitted on cold side of intercooler in wheel arch... I would consider on hot side or pre intercooler if its plumb back as it will be close to air cleaner... The job of BOV is to prevent reversion bouncing back off throttle plate and spinning turbo backwards.. So it realy doesn't matter where its fitted... Plenty of theories, but the main point is to run one...

This is exactly where i was going to fit it, it will match up to the air cleaner perfectly, as it is a plumb back type. I am thinking close to the throttle body, but i didnt want to run a long hose over and under intercooler pipework to the airbox. In the attached pic, you can just see the top left corner, this is where excess air will enter. I was going to put BOV in tube (yet to be made) just before the intercooler inlet. I think it will look the goods if nothing else....lol Cheers Daz

close to the throttle body makes sense to me.

Thanx everyone,
Decisions been made, it's going in the curve from the intercooler about 4 inches from T/B. Should look at home there.....i hope...lol Cheers Daz

the only other thing i can say is, if you put it on the outside would that disrupt the air flowing round the corner. i put mine on the inside of the bend.
it probably won't make a difference, as ebxr said a lot of different idea's, as long as you have one |

Dose ftw Can imagine how it might get annoying with a manual though

A BOV is NOT a performance item!! Its to protect turbo and retain boost on shifts. To keep turbo spinning in same direction..
An auto on low boost can get away without one.. A lot of Diesels DON'T have throttle plates .. They adjust injection side...
