Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to the solution to my problem.
Just 15minutes ago i put my foot down on my supercharged i6, it pulled hard and i backed off, but as i backed off i noticed the rpm gauge was showing stalling, no power, i had to indicate and pull over. From then, i checked the fuses, they all seem fine (near the bonnet release and above the car battery).. Kicked it over a few times, like 6-7 reps of 10+ cracks with no luck! The engine is turning over, so the starter motor, battery and connections are good, at the start it did make a few pop noises as if it was trying to start but this was only very quick and only happened twice. Just wondering does anyone have any ideas for getting it running? I had to leave it down the road and i have a roadworthy inspection tomorrow that i am booked in for at 9am :S One week left to get that cert too Thanks in advance Matt

Sounds like either fuel or spark (i.e....lack of!)

RACV just came and had a good look, its the spark, its sparking at the distributor but not at the plugs.
So its either the TFI module (which i replaced on my other falcon not 7days ago), the dist or the dist button (or something similar) or the dist cap. I get a free tow, so i'll just get the mechanic to fix it, unless someone can say "Definately the TFI module or the cap" in which case i will go crack of dawn tomorrow and jack it up outside the random persons house and change her over Thanks everyone

If that doesn't fix the problem then tow it to the mechanics. If you do that at least you have a chance of not going to the mechanic and spending more dollers. phong =P~

if the tachometer showed no reading then it could be a TFI module problem, as far as i know the tach doesnt get its signal from the coil.

Yeah the tacho was working, just it was at about ~200rpm and varying quickly about to stall.
I would love to just go and grab a new distributor, but i dont know how to replace it damn The mechanic is a good guy so he will take care of me (and not overcharge i hope) Thanks so far! Matt

If you are getting a spark at the cap, replace the cap and spark plug leads, most probably the carbon cap contact or leads by what you are saying.

If it has spark at coil ?? Then it could be cap or wires? Check rotor etc...
Also check connections and earth, battery connections to motor..Check relay near fuses ?? Check that boost may have blown inlet hose off ??

Oh forgot to mention a little issue I had was the retaining grub screw on the PIP wheel came loose and all hell with the timing, just something else to check.

Cool thanks, it wasnt the TDI module or the cap, it was the coil, which i could have done, instead of paying a guy 3 hours labour to replace :S
lol, atleast its done now Matt
