Any BA 6 4speed auto will do as they're all the same the BTR 93LE.
The older C series are tougher but they can show their age,the trade off is that they can handle grunt and can be tricked up.
BA auto's can handle a bit,the boys at Auto-tech have only killed one in their 460rwkw Turbo and the replacement is basically stock and is still going well after a couple of years.
Build something up untill the T5 goes pop.
There are some differences that make a retrofit into anything other than a B series non straight forward, after three attempts at a BA auto into my EF I have given up.

Ha we have BA bellhousing adapted to C4 on our ED Fairmont...
Talk to Toni Dominello [02] 9651 5803 He specialises in auto conversions, torque converters...
A 3.08 final drive would suffice and be a performance ratio.. The std 3 speeds run 2:7 / 2,9's... So 3.08 with bigger dia tyres would be the go... Besieds the lock up converter on BTR would NOT take the torque ...

Won't bolt up completely to an E series but will on B and A series.

Yes in our case we have an AU engine in ED and originally BTR then we fitted an XR6 EF 5 speed.. The lower bolts required drilling to accept sump ...
So fitting BA b/housing may have already been sorted...
The 9 " torque converter is from Commodore fabricated to fit Ford crank.. The flexplate was redrilled to accept the 3 bolt converter..
This is a C4 conversion...In this case tho...

For those that rave on about their strengthened BTR rebuilds going for 1.5k where do I sign up. A stock build taxi spec box goes for 1.5k.

And has anyone looked into the gear vendors overdrive units if they want to go for a glide or C series box? It aint cheap but it would be by far the best compromise between street/strip/highway.

Don't know what auto box is behind the modern stang but if there was a bell housing and a fab cross-member to match, I buy it. considering they've been proven on turbo & sc as reliable. with the Aus currency today, I'll import as much go fast bits from the state then store it until the dollar goes down again.

The good old AODE (and the non electronic AOD). Tough as guts and a built in overdive.

Lol mine only lasted 2 weeks with only 140,000 on it.

I ended up forking around 3500 for a good decent box, kevlar bands, alot more was beefed up, shifts very firm and is under warranty with the blower, guaranteed to handle up to 600hp or so...

Kickdown is smooth, and after a few months, oil is clean as too, value for money As I didnt want a manual, and an overdrive is Ideal. A c4 will be next when this lets go with the next hike in power..
