What do people do to build these shift kits?

Just to clarify, the mod I mentioned is not the same as the shift kit mod. The shift kit mod still uses the S3, S4 and S5 solenoids.
My mod completely eliminates the use of the S3, S4 and S5 solenoid. The reason these solenoids are in the box in the first place is to give it smooth shifts. The way I understand it is if you are still using the above solenoids you will not get the quickest possible shifts as the response time of the solenoids/oil flow can only be so quick and after a certain level of power the gears will flair as the switching can only be so quick. It still takes point xx seconds to do this. But when you eliminate the switching the cluches and bands responsible for the shifting are applying and releasing at the same time (very close) so gives it less chance to slip. I am no expert but getting a auto box to shift lightning quick is most of the way to getting it to survive alot better. I am close to finishing my engine rebuild so the ultimate test of this mod will be done in the next few months.

No, I thought I explained that above.
Read my earlier post on how to do it. The box does not need S3 S4 S5 solenoids to work. But the ECU needs to fooled into thinking that they are still there by putting the resistors in place of the solenoids.

I did the shift kit mod turbotrana is talking about on my EB turbo years ago. 200rwkw. 300,000kms on the box.
The standard shift kit that everyone does still let the trans slip into gear and overheat. The turbotrana shift kit was a lot harsher but I never had any trans issues and it didnt overheat as easy. Ive got the gear in my car to do it to my EF but I havent gotten around to fitting it yet. It will be interesting to see how it holds up with your new motor Tony. Whenever I tell someone about the mod they pass it off and instantly assume it wont work. lol at them. |

Sorry turbotrana i havent read the forums in ages, neat little trick there m8 im def going to give it ago on my new auto soon (second hand auto) again sorry bout not re-reading your post about the trick.

OK just to clarify this is nothin to actually physically alter the valve body mearly fool the trans. This is an issue i've been wondering about since the conversion started on my car. your not fooling the trans, your fooling the ECU that controls the trans the trans simply will operate without S3,S4 switching. S5 is then of no use.
