i guess this post should be here not in drivelines...
how good will a BTR 4 speed with shift kit be taking 15psi,i currently have a t5 but want to go auto,im in no hurry as the t5 is handling it.but i can get a cheap 4 speed auto conversion,so will this be ok?as opposed to a full manual c10(no overdrive) cheers

The BTR box can handle a fair bit of grunt, depends from which vehicle though.
The XR6T seems to be the strongest, though 15 psi is pushing it. But boxes are cheap too, would be cheaper to replace one every couple of months than beef one up. the C4, C6, C10 gear boxes are much easier to make stronger and handle the grunt with ease, if you have one on hand, I'd be going that route.

If you go 3 speed ... A 3.08 diff brings ratio's pritty much back to overdrive specs... The MASSIVE torque a turbo produces won't effect performance.. Especially with 2500 or so converter...
The XR6T has bigger oil pump and different valve body... So figure what's required ??? BIG trans cooler helps...

A 3.08 is well wide of the mark. A 3.45 diff with 0.68 overdrive gives overall gearing of 2.346. Closest a*** I know of is the A9X 2.6, maybe you might find a 2.5 in a 9" conversion.
Depending how hard you plan to thrash it, a toughened BTR could be like a fuse, or it could give years of trouble-free operation. Up to you. If you look like spending $4-5K on tranny and final drive, a T56 conversion at $7K might be worth the stretch.

So by this post are you saying that the BA XR6T 4spd auto fits behind the EL, I assumed that, but have never heard it confirmed. If so, could he get the ef box and get it rebuilt to BA XR6T specs, or better?

In the BA 4spd the oil pump did change, but it actually flows less oil, when I get my gear box re-built in july I'm getting an AU oil pump fitted as acording to my tuner and the shop re-building my box the pre BA pumps flow better and are more reliable.. I'm also getting BF clutch packs, new kevlar bands and cryo'ed AU panimetric gears fitted.. This box should handle 300rwkW pretty easy with the right tune for it, unlike the CAPA generic tune that probably shortened the life of my current box by about one year or more... Hope that helps

Any BA 6 4speed auto will do as they're all the same the BTR 93LE.
The older C series are tougher but they can show their age,the trade off is that they can handle grunt and can be tricked up. BA auto's can handle a bit,the boys at Auto-tech have only killed one in their 460rwkw Turbo and the replacement is basically stock and is still going well after a couple of years. Build something up untill the T5 goes pop.

im gonna build something up until the t5 gives up,and if iv built something before the t5 gives up i'll sell the t5 conversion.i personally dont think the t5 will break, its outlasted my expectations already and is still perfect.
how much glenneaux??
