Hey lads thinking about bolting a supercharger onto the EF, ive been looking at the stage 2 kit from capa, it says from stock 157fwkw it will give you 240fwkw on 9 psi, stock tourqe in the EF is 350nm somthing, how much more tourqe do you think this kit will give me? just a ball park figure? ive tried emailing capa, they dont reply and when eva i ring em the lady says there out on a tune, and ringing from where I live it costs a s**t load 2 be kept on hold.

thanks lads.

would be better off talking to an "Authorised CAPA dealer", such as Jake from "Jakes Performance" here in Canberra. He has done quite a few CAPA falcons in his time.

Enough torque to rip the bitumen off of the ground :)

Ive calculated (very roughly) than my car produces in excess of 500nm at the engine. That's a powerdyne on a 5L...

I imagine the I6 wouldnt be too far off this.

if you know the kw at any particular rpm, you can easily calculate that back to torque...

as torque(ftlb)Xrpm/5252=hp

or somewthing like that

I had a spreadsheet somewhere that i'd been playing around with but cant seem to find it at the moment.

It's tough calculating torque figures at the engine. For starters, you have to cancel out the gearing factor. The dyno sheet i had was km/hr... so taking the rolling diameter of the wheel/tyre i was able to calculate RPM at various stages in the drivetrain (axles, tailshaft and engine).

This is good because you want to eliminate the gearing effect that the trans/diff has on torque output.

Basically worked it back to engine rpm and used a 30% loss assumption (very rough i know, but was a rough spreadsheet anyway lol). Then applied 1.314 weighting to bring KW to HP and then used the formula above to bring HP back to ft-lb...

Dude, the figures he was quoting were flywheel figures to start with!!!

This fact is not lost on me. However, chances are once fitting the blower - you will hit a chassis dyno, where you will be provided with RWKW at given km/hr....

Hence, a bit of work taking rwkw@km/hr and getting flywheel power/torque at given engine RPM...

The 8's wil see 500+ Nm of torque, i think mine's around the high 500's mark from what i could remember.
The 6's should still see 500 easily i would think.

heyo,

going from 157kW to 240kW is a 53% increase, so to get a really rough figure for torq lets assume it increses by 53% also:

355Nm x 1.53 = 543Nm.

damn, thats a lota torque!

what about exhausts? would it be wise to upgrade to a 3inch system?
