Is there room for a 1JZ in the bay? That would be my budget kw pick, but otherwise the SR would be the pick of the 4cyl motors, just for the huge range of new and used bolt ons available in the same way a motec is, yet there are many claims of it being legal |

why not try a 265 hemi in there???
In the E49 Chargers they were capable of running 13.9 with a minor tune and decent tyres. Imagine what a worked one would do in a little capri!!

BIG hemi engine......little capri engine bay. it's all well and good to say X engine can make Y power or this one make more than that for the same dollars. but at the end of the day it has to FIT IN THE ENGINE BAY. inline sixes are not going to fit in a stock capri engine bay. V6 yes V8 yes. 265hemi no. the best options in terms of what fits, are the CA16/18, SR20, cosworth YB, the entire BD serries A through T, short deck windsor V8 289/302, best out of all of those would have to be the cosworth YB, in stock form out performs the SR in every way you can imagine, and fits a hell of alot easier then a V8 |

it comes pre approved you have to prove emissions compliance with it fitted to your vehicle, which includes complete drive cycle testing, and it must be password locked. motec and autronic are two that i know of that do meet the criteria of being able to meet adr requirements

i recon , go with a half cut s13,upgrade to a s15 later model ball bearing turbo ,
which is good for 400 fly wheel hp or hks 2530, gtr style front mount, 3 inch exhaust from turbo to cat then 3.5 cat back, run uni chp or apexi of stock computer and you should have the power your after with min lag your other option would have more flow better responce if set up right , but cost? |

but why be a sheep??
i mean turbo the pinto thats in there already. a few years back the fastest 4cyl in the country was 2L mk1 escort that ran low 9s with the pinto engine. the bottom end was nothing over the top. forged pistons on preped stock rods. ported head that was a copy from the book by David visard, start with an imported late model pinto that was factory injected and all you need to do is wire in wolf 3d or EMS stinger. the stock injected rods a little stronger then the carby rods. |
