Ok Im going the Powerdyne stage 2 supercharger kit from Capa, I will be putting it onto my 2nd EF. The Engine has extractors and zorst other then that it is total stock and is a auto, it has 194000kms on the clock, it seems to run in good nick no leaks dosent blow any smoke or go through oil and water. Ok ive been reading through the forced induction section and most people say that the stock engine will be ok for for 6-10psi?, as the stage 2 Powerdyne kit is set to run on 9psi, this should be fine with a stock engine?. What im worried about is the tune, capa supplies a chip to go with the kit, Once this chip is pluged into the Falcons ECU will it need to be tuned? or should it be plug and play stuff? as this car is going to be my daily driver I dont want it to be running like a*** and detonating or under fueling or anything, should the chip from capa stop all this from happening?
i plan to get a programable ecu later on, but while the falcon has the kit bolted on it will not be getting any other mods done to it so it should be fine to keep the piggy back chip on it. Soz for the noob questions, but im a total boost newbie thanks lads.

i would say the chip supplied from capa would be that similar to a unichip and yes it would have to be tuned for the car.

indeed it will, ive done the reading on the Powerdyne and vortech blowers and have decide to go Powerdyne due to money reasions, and dont wish to go past 9psi,

The CAPA chips are supposed to be pretty good as far as plug and play chips go.
Martin is happy with is. You can always run the chip as received till you got some more cash and can take it somewhere to be tuned on a dyno.

ok, do you think the car will get detintation or any other probs with this kit without getting a tune? or do you think it should bolt up and all should be smooth.
or will it be a case of wait and see what happens?

Generally the CAPA tunes are very safe, they could probably squeeze another 10-20rwkw out of their kits quite easily with a more aggressive tune but then they would be running the risk of early failures. Obviosuly it would be best to get a custom tune, either through an aftermarket computer, a chiptorque or other edit or even a unichip, but if money is tight then the CAPA supplied chip is fine IMO.

The megasquirt is a DIY programable computer although you can buy pre-built ones too. I have used one and have been quite impressed with its tunability and features. Further details http://www.megasquirt.info/ and a good place to order them is www.diyautotune.com |
