I got my hands on a second hand Typhoon intercooler today. i want to clean the inside of it out to remove any oily buildups before it goes on the car.

whats the best way? i was thinking of just spraying a can of degreaser in at each end and just hosing it out. this shouldnt be a problem? or is there a better way?

thanks

cap off one end, put about 500mls of petrol in it cap off the other end swish it around for ten minutes, leave to sit for ten, swish around for another ten then pour it all out, and hey presto, one clean intercooler

How much did you pick up the cooler for? They are hard to get original ones.

$200 plus postage, not too bad... its 50% taller than standard, has 12 passes instead of 8...

i cleaned it out last night with kerro, worked well, now its ready to be sprayed black!

Dont spray it black  . I painted my cooler chrome to look like a phoon cooler if you spray it black it will look boring like the black cooler already on the turbs. $200 is a good buy. Wish i can be in the right places at the right times. Goodluck.

Personally I'd leave it silver unless I was specifically trying to hide it from the jacks.
They don't stand out that much, if it was polished I'd say paint it.

When people look in their rear view mirror helps let them know its a T hahaha
I hate trying to guess if it's a N/A or T by looking at the front

i think you have swayed me towards spraying it silver! haha

although spooling up into power slides may give away the snail under the bonnet

Leave it silver man it will make a black car look tuff.

If i knew how to post pics id show you mine painted silver/chrome. It looks awesome and my car is lightning strike silver. A black car will stand out more. Then you will see cars moving out of your way when you come up behind them
