hi there, just wondering if anybody here has had or got an eb or equivalent running a crane hi-6 and triggering the std tacho??

my problem is that it seems the std tacho cant read the tacho signal from the hi-6 over about 5200rpm, during the sweep test it goes to there and then flicks back to zero, ive read other people have this problem with a vl for example

ive checked the tach output, and it keeps goin but the tach stops

anyone got this setup??

cheers brad

how far above 5200rpm are you planning on going... perhaps one of those times where you could legitimately use an aftermarket tacho

well, i dont plan on going above 5200 other than during tuning if it is still making good power (max of 6000), other than that i will have a shift light setup with the sm4 and a rev limit anyway, so if i do go past that ill soon know...

but would have liked a fully functional tacho, a mate of mine who is a tuner suggested a resistor in the signal line, using a small pot to adjust it to see what it does, he said you sometimes need a tacho filter which is just a resistor

im against aftermarket, well mainly monster tacho's, i rekn they are poxy most of the time

the sm4 has a tacho display in the software for tuning so i wont have any hassles really, just wanted to hear from any others who had came across the problem

try borrowing another cluster and see if it still occurs...

also you can get not-so-monster aftermarket tacho's as well, have a look around...
