An argument that has been used before about the brake upgrades is that you are not allowed to do over 110km/h on any road in NSW anyway legally and the factory brakes have been already certified to do this.
It has been argued before and was successful.

i was also wondering if its so expensive to upgrade e series brakes why is everyone getting past engineer cert with the turbo because i was informed to turbocharge a car you need to change the brakes, obviously not entirely true and depends where you go.

Brake upgrade can be just going to slotted or slotted and drilled Discs and braided brake lines.

Phongus -> maybe.

In regards to brakes, only way to know for sure is to do a brake force test. There are rules in how quickly the car must pull up based on it's weight, if it can't pull up quick enough you upgrade the brakes.

If it can pull up within the rules, no brake upgrade. Any engineer that says to upgrade the brakes without testing the car in question doesn't want to do the job.

Cheers

ok the car is running a 3 inch exhaust it is very quiet .compaired to a normal ford its not that much different in noise, as for the ride hight, and other stuff it basicly as a standard car it does have the turbo blumbed back, its basicly a snort turbo with manifold and exhaust on a standard car no after market ecu or any thing .so your saying it will need a engeneers cirt for rego ..yes..and the nsw rta are basicly providing false information....now i asked a simple question so whats with all the sarcatsic remarks i didnt say any thing nasty to any one on this topic did i NO...so its ok for u to say stuff but when i have a go back u have a hissy fit .....

Yes they do but they arent as s**t as the E series brakes.

Ring an engineer. Get your questions answered. Cop Less s**t on the forum.

Which is a rather interesting ask considering the ones that AIT did, did not have any brake upgrades.

Cheers

It's all about the standards of the day, so I would assume they were a bit more relaxed in 1987 :)

technically it does need an engineer cert for rego, the rta dont inspect the cars anyway.
the rta your calling are giving you false information, as there is detailed info on what can and cant be modified on vehicles on the rta website. there is also vsi 15 publication which lists the specific engineers that the rta will except certificates from.
it cant be a cert from any old engineer it has to be a rta signatory..
as for rego its up to a mechanic to pass it, some mechanics might pass it without one. but not many will risk loosing there licence though..
if and when the police do stop the car and they check, and if its not engineered
they will defect it, and it wont clear defect untill its engineered or the turbo is removed..
also if there is insurance on the car and its not engineered the insurance has the full right not to cover any insurance claims. as far as the insurance companys are concerned the car is unsafe and un roadworthy without an engineer signing off on the modifications..

from my experience once it gets any police attention it becomes known to the police then making it hard to avoid getting pulled up..
imo its well worth the extra $1000+ to get the car engineered..

with the exhaust it must be 90db or under @ 3200rpm.

Shane I thought you had an e series turbo? You wouldve had to go through all this yourself?

Now Now Brad, questions like this are not to be asked, you are being confronting and questioning Shane's credability.

Shall we not upset the young man ???? by stating to obvious.
