Just wondering if anyone here is having no issues using the EA head with forced induction setups ?
Just looking into extra costs ect for chucking a turbo on my car.. i came accross this article on autospeed with JMM that mentions "Jim says the EA head should be avoided - "there are weaknesses in the casting, design faults and flow problems." The EB was slightly improved and the EBII was better again." Does this mean i'll have a time bomb on my hands running an EA head with boost? (will be sticking to 6psi or less) |

Well if you plan on boosting it, you'd be dumb not to do the headgasket on it first (if it hasnt already been done).
If you do that, replace it with an AU MLS gasket, and you could source a later model head then, though you wont suffer if you use your original EA head like you are thinking. |

the ea head does have alot of valve shrowding going on, so that would explain the less flow rate
|

Yeah will be replacing the headgasket, and getting the head machined to make sure she's nice and flat. it's the 'weakness in the casting' bit that worries me.. the last thing i want is a cracked head.

An ED head will lower the compression for you as well.

the valve shrouding area in the chamber will cause detonation, ditch it straight away
