Hey Guys, Im wanting to turbocharge my EB 4.0L.
It's stock as a rock, my question is how much boost can I run my plan is as follows.
-Turbo T70 A/R .70/.84 Twin Entry
- 40mm HKS Style Wastegate
- 600 x 300 x 76 (mm) Front Mount Intercooler
- Turbo Oil Line Kit, tapped into the stock EB sump
- P.E.T Mods Custom Turbo Manifold
- 3" Intercooler Pipes
- Stock CPU & Fuel System
- Stock Driveline (Diff, Gearbox)
- Aiming For 250RWKW @ 9-10 PSI
- Is there anything else I need to do?

Problem 1: I cant seem to put the intercooler at the front it wont fit, looks like I gotta start cutting things.

But Like I said stock fuel & cpu, is 250rwkw possible???

Here's a cool thread that will give you a good idea of what you're in for. Home turbo jobs kick a**, just dont be stingy about it. I reckon chef/dansedgli are some of the best DIY setups ive seen on any car, anywhere.

http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4114

Also have a look through the forced induction workshop for more theoretical topics regarding injector sizing and ecu.

250kw at the wheels with stock fuel and cpu? Not a chance. Ive got about 250kw at the engine, that is pretty much maxing out the injectors with dangerously high fuel pressure... and ive got 8 of the buggers.

Pyroay's recent build/tune was yielding about 310kw at the wheels and that puppy didnt have many stock bits left in it.

The engine should take 9-10psi no worries, but you'll need bigger injectors and fuel pump. ECU mods are a must for injector changes.

Driveline will take it so long as you dont give it too much of a hard time. 250kw a fair bit of power so it'll break eventually.

Thank You :D
Ok so a much more realistic figure is about 200rwkw? I can live with that! 8-)
Thats a good power figure, it`ll keep the XR8's away! :P

I was also thinking is it worth going LPG conversion? Its better than setting up a full fuel injection system, also works out cheaper in the long run. Anyone have any thoughts ideas? Also how much would a workshop charge to setup the system? If I supply the turbo, wastegate, manifold, intercooler, oil kit, manifold etc? Would $1000 do it? I paid just over $3000 for the turbo bits & pieces.

200rwkw is still pushing the stock fuel system, at a minimum you will want a high flow fuel pump and a rising rate regulator. Timing advance is another problem, however for 6-8psi you may be ok. A chiptorque chip or unichip will allow you to tune the ignition and fuel side of things to maybe 10psi. As for LPG, I don't think it will be any easier or cheaper to tune, and petrol will give you far more tuning capabilities IMO.

At the end of the day the actual running costs between petrol and LPG are small. The biggest problem with EFI is the initial cost of correct sized injectors which is obviously a ONCE only cost.

standard injectors might give you 150wkw, the stock pump if in as new cond will support upto 190ishwkw, but thats with larger (400cc plus) injectors.

The cooler is the same size as mine, fits easy... just.
$1000 to fit it all is pushing it... call a few turbo specialists and get a few quotes

BTW 4.9 AFAIK Dan's setup is not DIY? He had most of his work done at Rank Rotary, but he bought and chose all the parts himself.
