hey all i finally got my car up and running (ED XR6 TURBO) its only running standard comp and injectors big fuel pump and a obx rising rate reg and ive retarded the timing by about 5deg. just a question on getting it drivable with standard injectors and computer. ive got it running and driving but its surges big time as in vertually impossible to drive. how do ppl get away with leaving there standard computer?
cheers. |

most dont, they build it like you realise very quickly liek you have that it generally doesnt work and get a aftermarket ecu

run about 6psi boost and 60-65psi fuel pressure on a 2:1 rising rate reg. it worked fine for me!!

it would be on boost just leaning out big time. or hes ruing 12psi+ and the map sensor wont read it

nah im running 7 psi and on and off boost it leans out big time. i no i need a computer but im gona go straight gas soon. and i just wanted to get it goin until i get it on gas. until i get it on gas im just gonna run a auxilary fuel controller. any1 used 1 before, they run a extra injector and computer to run just the fuel side of things

Was is the rising rate regulator your using? 2-1 12-1???
Its possible that you have it hocked up backwards, if so that will cause the surging on and off boost. |

Change ratio in" rising rate fuel reg" till you get mixure close.... Close plug gap down to .030 or .70 mm

the reg is a 12:1 and its not adjustable unless you buy the shim kits for them. i dont think i hooked it up backwards, but then again maybe cos there where no markings on the reg as to which line was in and out. i connected the line on the side of the reg as inlet and the line on the bottom as outlet.

I'm 99% sure you have the lines around the wrong way.
Malpassi regulators are configured the way you have it, but the OBX ones are the opposite. Give it a shot with the lines around the other way, I'm sure it will come good, I've made the same mistake... Cheers Tim |

wats the worst that can happen if the lines are backwards will it stuff the reg

Wont hurt the reg, but will most likely end up damaging your engine when it leans out to much

when i first fitted my old malpassi 2:1 reg i put the lines on back to front and it didn't even start.

If you can T off the line pressure fuel line to check fuel pressure ... The fuel pump "MAY" not be up to the pressure put on it ??...Do you know exactly what boost you have ?? It could be cutting out due to map not reading boost above 8 or so Lb ??... If plug gaps ar too big you'll get park blow out...
