Hi guys,

Just wondering what size intercoolers people have jammed into the front of their EF/ELs?

What's the biggest that can squeeze in there without (too much) trimming of the bumper bar or other modifications?

Photos would be nice as well.

Cheers,
Nic

Anyone??

Okay, from what I have seen 600 x 300 x 76 will fit.

Any takers on 600 x 300 x 100?

Frittz has a monster sized one behind his bar.

600 * 300 * 100 will fit easy enough.

Mines a 600x300x76 and I had to relocate my horns off the rio bar up just in-between my headlights. And all I had to cut off my bar is the upper section of the lower lip on the mouth, mines got an el xr front bumper. Cut about 1 and 3/4 inch in depth. Looks pretty tidy still.
Cheers,
Corbin

I have a 600X300X115 cooler on my Xh (pretty similair front) and although i cut the front off my bumper. It would of easily fit behind the bumper.

Corbin, Ben,

Thanks for the replies guys.

Do either of you have photos?

Did either of you have to modify the reo in the back of the bumper at all to get them to fit? (Ben, by the sounds of it, you have taken everything out, yes?)

nope didnt modify the rio bar at all. mine still has A/c condenser and receiver dryer and everything, horns are the only thing i had to relocate.

ive got these 2 pics but i dont have a pic of the bar itself when it was off

Hey

Yer I cut the reo. It's still there and sort of structual but the bumper no longer uses it for support.

I only had to relocate the horns. all the ac gear is still in place.

The more it's hidden the less airflow will pass through the cooler, defeating the purpose of it. As for car thiefs.... That's what kill switches/immobilisers are for haha

Wouldn't butchering the reo like that render your airbag useless?

i recon the intercooler would act like a reo and absorb some on the impact pressure in an accident anyway...
