Ok guys. My friend just got a HKS (i think) turbo for me. Now i want to turbo my EF up but am very unsure on how to go about it. I got a few questions.

Manifold: I believe its just exhaust needed. But how much for a stock exhaust? and where?

Intercooler: He says you dont need one but it helps. Do it or not?

BOV: i am lead to believe that this is called a wastegate or BOV. He has one but is it nessisary? I dont want that annoying HOS ricer 'pechoosh' sound. ARRRGH!! DAMN RICERS!!!

ECU: does the ECU need any mods?

Lastly.....Is there a doco. Im just about to look for it.

Cheers all. :D

get an intercooler, more power from the turbo plus less chance of damaging pre-detonation. You'll probably need an aftermarket computer like wolf3d or something to control engine management. Do you have all the piping already cause you'll need it. In regards to he bov/wastegate question, does it have 1 built in, you'll have to provide more info bout the turbo itself and maybe a pic. And finally, check this out for a few pointers: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12309

Read CHEF's thread.
If you don't understand what a wastegate is, what a wideband O2 sensor is, and how to understand compressor flow maps, google.
Cause theres absolutely no way in hell you can do a DIY turbo conversion without knowing at least some s**t about what you're attempting.
And paying someone else to do it all, is going to cost UPWARDS of 10k.

well my friend got me one from his work. thats all i can say bout that. But he has no clue but he said it was a HKS turbo. Not sure bout a model but i was supposed to get it tonight. Ill end up getting it tomorrow.

IF i do something i will have read it up properly and ade sure i do everything right and make sure it dont blow up. LOL. IF i dont do anything then ill do the s**t i know how to eg cam, or exhaust or something like that.
Wrong spot for it but how much for a decent stage 2 or 3 cam, or exhaust or something. ill read that up before anything happens. I remember there being a link to something bout what u should do to modd a i6

Cams to suit turbo's are alot different to the Stage 2, Stage 3 etc cams which you see everyong using in their NA setups. Often the stock cam is reasonably good for a boosted setup, unless you're chasing bigger power..
