At the moment I'm getting parts together to rebuild my EL XR6's bottom end for a turbocharger. What my plan is to get a set ACL forged pistons, shot peened and linished stock rods and a balanced crank.
My question is what is involved with shot peen and linishing? also
How much power you recon this will handle?

there are no forged pistons to suit the 5.88inch rods that the pre AU engines have.
you'll have to get some made.
