Last night i went to a friends house to fix his 94 galant, now this friend is the same age as me but is really stuck in the whole fast and furious intial d scene (although his is a l plater at the age of 23).

He was talking to me and dribbling s**t about his galant and what he wants to do he came across http://www.electricsupercharger.net/ a company called "Thorton" they produce elec chargers.. i emailed them with a joke email about these packages they offer.

150 AUD (give or take) With the order you will receive a supercharger, performance chip, boost controller, toggle switch, and installation instructions.

Quote:
Superchargers can be turned off or on during driving via a switch included with your order. The supercharger can be left on at all times, or turned on only when you need power. The superchargers we sell are designed not block airflow when turned off. Power gains will occur throughout the powerband.

Quote:
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all of our products. Items must be retuned within 14 days of arrival. As stated, a 30% gain in horsepower and torque is guaranteed for our supercharger packages.

I have seen these things on youtube and they sound like vaccume cleaners. they have forum and them seem legit but again it seems like they aren't varible just on and off with about 8psi or some s**t..

Your Thoughts

Make it flash around the screen in hypo colours...if they miss that i don't know wtf they are on.

Froudey...I say scam. I think a bottle of compressed air will do much better then that.

I know this is the millionth thread (as i did search it is as common as the resistor ebay s**t) but most of them other ones seem to be ebay related s**t... like this seems legit (website email contact us etc etc) but in truth is load of crap, isn't it? it is bassically a vaccum motor running on 12v power soucre with a fancy turbo looking surround...

the horsepower gain is prolley essentially from the "preformance chip"... i have no intentions of purchaseing this item or anything but i wonder how many have been scammed....

i dont believe it would do anything?
i cant see it producing any boost on a 4ltr reving at 5000 rpm..

maybe in a 1.3 ltr engine it might get a psi or 2 but not on a large cc engine..
just for kicks  i emailed them and asked for tech info like whats the max rpm of it and how much cfm it can flow and how much boost it will produce on a large capacity engine with 3" intake and throttle body reving over 5000 rpm...

ill wait and see if i ever get a reply..

This seems a more elaborate scam than most, eg there is a forum on their website that appears to have members posting questions. But when you go into the multi-page threads, only the first page actually exists... I can't get to page 2 or 3.

Quite a lot of psuedoscientific babble, but not much real detail. And the wiring diagram is far too simplistic.

So far AFAIK there is one genuine electric forced-induction system available. IIRC it uses some sort of dual-battery setup as per 4WD's and realistically states that it is only usable for short bursts due to the drain on the battery. This scam isn't it, and I'm buggered if I can find the link anywhere. I might have dreamt it LOL.

no it dose exist, it uses some hardcore batterys and can only be used for like 30 seconds at atime, then it needs time for the batterys to recharge, i will try and find it
