Is the need to enginer a car for a turbo, based on the output or just the fact that you're bolting one on, irrespective of performance ?

What sort of brake upgrade are we talking about ?

Could I get away with a change from series 1 to series 2 brakes or will I need something more extreme ?

Generally if it wasnt available from the factory it will need engineering to prove it meets the required ADR's.

I think I need to engineer the AP racing brakes on my AU as it wasnt factory but brembos would be fine as they are an option.

Cool I get that, but how do I determine what sort of brakes are necessary if I decided to turbo my car ?

Being an au1, the choices are limited and very expensive for the big aftermarket packages.

What would I likely need to fit ?

** Edit - Spoke to Joe @ Crescent **

ba XR6 turbo has brakes the same as the NA model so arguably you dont need an upgrade, it all depends on what the engineer says.

I am booked in for a NSW RTA emission test on the 14th!! Hope it passes then I can take it to the engineer and get my AU on the road finally!!

It can be done here but as there is only a couple of testing stations that victorian engineers accept certificates from and they all happen to be private companies so they charge rediculous amounts for the test.

Its cheaper to take a holiday up north for a week.

The emission test is in penrith and the engineer is in hornsby, I havent been able to get onto him yet though. Hopefully he is right to look at it at the same time.
