Hey guys,
Im just wondering if anyone knows the service costs for the F6. Just wondering about the major services like the 50k and 100k services as i cant see the minor services being too bad. OK cheers guys

In my opinion just do the services yourself, if you arnt sure about it get a manual.
If they have apprentice's there thats what they would be working on servicing cars. I worked at pacfic landrover as a apprentice mechanic and i was working on all the cars from shiity freelanders to the range rover twin turbo v8's Thats just my opinion tho. Not worth the money, can be spent else where. |

The 50 and 100k services should include transmission services if its an Auto. And possibly checking the spark plugs and leads.

no leads on an F6. plugs for them are due at 135.000 i think, but find a lot of ppl start to get missfires after 100k. air filter is every 45k and fuel every 90k. every service on an F6 and XR6 Turbo requires retensioning of the exhaust manifold bolts (these often come loose and can fall out if not done). also the inlet bolts get retensioned, although these do not come as loose as the exhaust side. anything after 75k on ba> check upper and lower ball joints, and anything after 45k u can start to check diff bushes, especially in the bf series.
when i did my apprenticeship with ford it was rare an apprentice was allowed to work on an fpv or even T series. depends on the workshop i guess. as for cost i think a standard service for an XRT or F6 is around the $350 mark. but i'm not 100% on that, as i never see the cost/customer side of things. hope it helps. ah yes, trans service at ford is only an trans oil change. if you want filter and pan gasket to be changed you have to ask for it and even then its an extra $80

F**k that when most tranny shops will do an oil change, filter and pan gasket for 90 bucks. The ZF 6 speed will cost a bit more cause there's more oil and the gasket is slightly more expensive.
The reason they get missfires at 100k is because you have to take the plugs out every now and then for inspection. If you leave them for the full 135k they get enough carbon deposits to foul them up. I used to take my iridiums out of the cab every 15k for a general inspection and mine lasted around 200k. I could have left em in there for at least another 100k but decided to play it safe. |

The plugs in my turbo went bad after 75k's. Now just past 90k's on the clock they're starting to misfire under heavy load again so they should be about due for replacement. Edited cars are a bit crueler to their plugs then standard ones though.

from what im told by a few mates who work in ford dealerships theres either no need to change trans filter or you just simply cant change trans filter. the 6spd oil is almost on par with 1/2 a barrel of crude oil. around about $60 per litre. for a flush and refill of the 6spd box your looking at around 7 litres. $60 x 7ltrs = $420

The original pan on the six speed has the filter moulded into it
so budget on replacing the pan /filter assembly you can buy a pan and filter assembly that come as two separate pieces (the original pan is made of plastic this one is a steel pan) |

From memory i think i rememebr hearing that the ZF box's only say to change the oil every 150,000km or that could have been a full flush and filter change as well.
Flashed turbo's need to have there plugs regapped to .8mm other wise they blow the a*** end out of them

Owning a GT-P the servicing isn't too bad (pay extra for the full synth oil), and I do the 'half' services myself.
The catch is consumables. front rotors ~$1000 EACH (Ford price, I replaced mine with DBA5000's for $1000 total) front pads ~$990 set (Ford price, I replaced mine with DS2500 for $475) tyres the Dunlop Sport Maxx (FPV factory tyres), are ~$600 each for 245/35R19. I run Maxxis MA-Z1 at about $250 each, very much the equal to the Dunlop, but easier on the wallet. I got 62,000 out of the front rotors. 45,000 from factory front pads. 15-25,000 for tyres (depends on front/back how many track days etc.) rears wear like any high powered RWD car (quickly), fronts wear evenly except on the track (circuit) where the outside sholders wear quickly (resulting in a defect-able but otherwise fine tyre). I figure rear pads will need doing soonish I haven't yet priced them. If you can afford to run/maintain them, FPVs are a wonderful drive.

Aren't they programmed to s**t themselves at 300,000kms? I've heard that from many transmission shops regarding the ZF Auto. |

There can't be too many ZF equipped cars hitting 300k's surely.

Not just Falcons with ZF's. BMW has been using them since 01 (they were the first).
