i'm fitting a 600x300x75 inter cooler to my eb fairmont. I have the el ac condenser in it so the reciever dryer is off to the passenger side. I'm after peoples opinions/pic's/ experience as to how i can go about it with out having more than half the intercooler exposed. I don't wanna chop most of the bar away. Should i try get an inter cooler that is taller and narrower so it misses my reciever dryer and so the cooler is close to the condenser?

Look up what Misk did on boosted. His is hidden but he cut heaps of metal work.
I'd personally go a 450 by 300 by 75 core in an EA-ED with the stock bar. Cut the metal to clear the pipes and it is very well hidden. Bit small though. |

cheers. When you did yours, did you have air con? I'm not sure if a 450x 300 will be enough for a twin turbo?

In another the receiver dryer thing was moved to under the drivers side guard. Its easy to move and get new hoses made. Is the EL bottle attached to the side and in front of the radiator on the passenger side or is it under the guard? If its still between the headlights your not going to have much luck I dont think. I think the 450 core is too small but people still make 300rwkw+ on XR6T's with them so it might do the job if its tuned well. You could always have a custom core made thats a bit thicker too. Its pricey but it would help. If i turbo another E series this is the main reason I'd get an EF. |

sweet. Yeah i might move the reciever dryer. It's currently on the left side of the radiator. I think it's harder for me to make new lines tho as on the eb's they're threaded and on the el setup, they use an oring. Maybe i can machine up new fittings that real on the o ring and go to a speed flow fitting. But will braided hose be ok for ac gas? What hose did you use?

The lines were steel in mine.

so how can the AC be modified? Are the lines out of the condenser steel? Are they weldable? i need to relocate my reciever dryer, so is it possible to weld new pipe to the condensor?

if you are sticking with the 600x300 you only have 2 options
either have the piping down the bottom, which leaves alot of the pipe and cooler exposed or flip it up to have the pipes ontop like i did. i didnt cut much metal, no worse than cutting holes in the gaurds for the pipe to go through... you need to cut the headlights also, but again not the end of the world.

had a mate do the same thing to his eb xr6, turbo piping is so short it starts spooling at 1800 with a log manifold and t4 turbs... will be interesting with your manifold to see how it compares..

misk- i like how your cooler sit's but from what i see you don't have air con. Which is why i wanna note my reciever bottle. I also don't wanna but my head lights so i'll have to flip my cooler with the pipe's at the bottom. How far is your cooler from where the condenser sit's?
Psi taxi- do you have air con? Abs? Waggen- hey how's the car going? |
