hey guys, i just wrang up my insurance company and asked how much xtra it would cost me to supercharge my car.....they said nothing extra, i can have it covered and no extra charge. ok so, i have decided that im not going to waste my time with the edit and that i am going to get a supercharger kit, i have been looking at the BA 4.0L ones on capa's website and they look pretty decent.
They say that the standard non intercooled supercharger can bring the BA up to 305kw (at the fly wheel) with the intercooler up to 346kw@fw, so just wondering, would there be anything else i would need to replace for my XT to handle this, or would everything i need come in the kit???
it has 75,000k's on the clock, just tellin ya for wear and tear purposes??
and apart from better brakes that is :)
thanks guys, your help and information is much appreciated :)

You'd destroy the gearbox and diff if you're not careful with 340+ kw from the engine. Itd last but you'd have to treat it real nice.

Brakes wouldnt be an issue, you'd never get enough traction to get speed up. lol

See how it goes. If the gearbox dies, have it rebuilt with tougher internals... not sure who does this kind of work... mal wood?? crescent motorsports?? jim mock?? capa??

Diff, same again. See how it goes.

Btw you'll need an edit for the supercharger :)

Spot on.

The fueling requirements change drastically when you compress the air going into the engine.

I suggest you start reading up :) Google is your friend.

go supercharger/intercooler, with C.A.P.A Flash tuner, never mind about the diff and tranny, they WILL be fine, they won't last as long(mainly if you do burnouts tho), but they will hold for a while, but when they do give up one day just get them made stronger to cope with the power, those tranny can hold 400kw, but thats thier limit on stock internals, that includes engine and diff internals aswell limit is about 400kw on BA's, but it depends on how you drive it eg, keep attacking the diff, then it'll go, but thats even with less power, but the full BA driveline will be alright if your only going between 300-400kw.

interesting, cuz i was planning on getting the flash tuner anywayz, and i dont do burnouts, f**k up too much stuff, like the diff for example. so if i get the flash tuner, use that edit (custom ofcourse) then start saving for a Vortech Supercharger Kit+Intercooler upgrade, whack that in, i should be right....sounds like a plan, cheers, my mate works at ford so i wont have any trouble getting spare parts if ened be :)

For a BA, I'd be looking at turbo instead of S/C... main reason is BA's allready come from the factory with a turbo so you will find it alot easier to get around rego/engineering cert

I'm sure if you look on the XR6 turbo forums there would be plenty of standard turbo gear for sale after guys have upgraded... cast exhaust manifolds, intercoolers/piping ect. Plus there is HEAPS of turbo info and know how, whereas with a S/C your sort of out on your own
