Hi guys, I currently have one of these BOVS on the car
Anyway it goes ok but the sound kinda sucks. Anyway Im wondering what do you guys think is a good sounding bov, Im after more of a whistle then a long drawn out woosh sound. Iv decided on a few Stealth FX - you can get a whistle trumpet addon but it says you need at least 11psi which I wont have (more around 6-8) do you think it would still work ok? Turbosmart Supersonic - it looks big but I cant find any info about how it sounds Are there any other bovs you guys can recommend? Also one last question in the bov it has a spring on the piston which you can adjust by turning the cap. By making the cap more loose does this just mean the bov blows off easier? Thanks

it all depends on if atmospheric BOVs are legal in your state.
just plumb the BOV back to your intercooler, you'll still hear the noise, but people outside the car wont. loud BOVs just scream out d***head. plus having a stealthier car is better, because cops are always looking to yellow sticker a car |

i have a turbosmart supersonic and its s**t, very loud. no it doesn't whistle.
if u want a good whistle type of sound get a HKS SSQ

Just don't run one.
You got an auto or manual? auto wouldn;t worry about the blow off so much, don't need to pedal on off. |

Its an auto at the moment but may change over to a manual eventually. Iv heard the HKS on another car but its kinda of a tinny sound from outside the car.
I suppose with the auto you never really hear it unless you back off at full throttle |

Not allowed to vent to atmosphere in qld was the info the workshop gave me.
Does anyone know what adjusting the spring tension does when turning the cap? |

it just adjusts the pressure difference between the piping and the manifold that is required to make it open

i got a hks ssqin my room.....but the diaphram has a hole in it so i cant use it nemore....
if u hav the car in neutral and reved it it would go pppssshhhh but when u were driving and the engine was acutally under load when it would blow off it would be a really high pitched whistle.... i got that 1 cheaps off a mate $30. but if i ever 1 the lotto id go buy another.. cool bov just expensive.... it lasted well though...was in on myn for bout 5 months with 9psi threw it ...but mines an auto so it didnt get used to much...but was on my mates supra since 1998 with ne where from 18-24 psi...( depending if he was track racing on weekends at the time) goin threw it ....so it took a bit of abuse there. |

Yeah I think I might head for the HKS replica ones on ebay they seem fairly cheap. One thing when I rev the engine up even if I take it up as high as 4000rpm in netural it wont blow off... weird

It only does that if there is enough load which there is none in neutral or if the turbo is pretty small.
Retard the timing heaps then give it a go

Ive got the stock BA bov plumbed back on bigger intercooler piping with a pod mounted in the front guard... 10psi and it sounds great... big turbo sound not this kiddies bov little motor, little turbo gay rubbish
