Hi ppl, i was wondering if anyone on here has built ther own log style turbo manifold and if so do they have any pics? I'm going to have a go at building my own manifold over the next couple of week and will keep you posted on the progress.

I have built a couple of custom manifolds for a few mates (an rx7 and a lancer) which isnt really isnt that difficult.

First get a flange to suit your car ( an exhaust shop have these to suit most cars ) and bolt it to your head. then get your turbo flange and position it in your engine bay for clearances. Once u have a desired position measure it up the take the turbo flange and tack a brace from the exhaust flange to the turbo flange. then getting steam pipe bends start from the turbo flange first then from the exhaust flange and meet up in the middle. its also good to go back every now and then to check clearances etc. another tip is to try and get all the piping and bends somewhat even .

hope that helps a bit.

Hi guys, just an update. I started to make the manifold today. Firstly I got some 90*10 mild steel 620mm long, found the centre of the plate and marked out the 6 holes. Each of the holes have 104mm centres. Then i got a 41mm hole saw and drilled the holes checking with the manifold gasket as i went. This is as far as i got as i did this at work today and ran out of time. Here are some pics.

Dont forget spark plug notches!.

Be carefull when welding as 10mm mild steel is pretty easy to warp, so i suggest you get a scrap head from somewhere to bolt i to while you weld it

Only took .5hr to drill all 6 holes and i drilled the bolt holes today all matches up nicely. The steel cost me bugger all as I work for an engineering firm so the manifold is really only going to cost me my time. I will post some pics in the next few days when its bolted to the head(which i have to give a bit of a clean first)

Hi guys just an update. the manifold is now finished bar the wastegate mount as still unsure where i'm going to put it as the motor hasn't been fitted to the car yet. Enough talk anyways here are some pics and let me know what you think. PS. EBS 4L that is a nice manifold but something that big wouldn't fit under the bonnet of a TD corty :D 8-)
