Hi just looking for some advice
my cousin was given ct20 from a 2.4lt diesel he piped it up to a xf falcon as a burnout comp car he couldent go more then half throttle or he would kill a auto box. 3 auto boxes and a few diffs later he relised it was too much for the auto, i let him use my 5 sd supra box all better right NO one hour later blowen head gasket warpt block and a crake in the head between the valves.(water pump belt broke dident help) Hes in the process of rebuilding the motor but none of our turbo guries will advise him hom much shim he needs one of his dads mates is willing to cut it for him for free (well for beer any way )
Any advice would help he want to run 10psi - 16psi
this is the spec of the engine
4.1L Alloy Head 6 cyl
Bore and stroke: 93 x 99 mm
Power: 103kW at 3750rpm
Torque: 316Nm at 2400rpm
Compression ratio: 9.35:1

Its far better to try and get some low comp pistons..The thicker your piston to head clearance, the greater chance of detonation...
You should be able to get some low comp or dished pistons through ACL ??
Things go wrong with forced induction due to bad tuneing!!! I'd say the turbo is on the small side??
One way of checking is to weld or drill and tap a 100 mm X 6mm tube into exhaust housing.. The exhaust pressure should not go over two times boost pressure...
I'd say atleast .060 to drop comp under 9 to 1...
Do a search there are sites that work it out for you...
Colder plugs and limit advance to say ??? 18*...
A diesel turbo off a 6 litre would work way better...
Another ... A 3.3 turbocharged may work better???
The shorter stroke means they can rev and boost all day !!!!
Good luck....

damn a diesel turbo off a 2.4 lt? that things never going to work very well, turbo way way way way too small, choke engine=detonation=goodbye.

you dont really need to decompress the engine for that boost, but if its un-intercooled and with that tiny turbo, its probably running very hot discharge temps, I think your pushing chit up hill with that setup, especially if its suck through.

just find another good running std engine, and get a more appropriate turbo, you'll make enough power with 8-10psi anyway.

it makes power if the water pump belt hadent have broken and if it had a temp gage it would have beeen all good but hes got the new ($60 pistons and ring of ebay) in and a new botttom end
but it goes supprisingly well 3rd gear easly skokes at 60 and its his toy and he is poor so no proper turbo for him he only got this on cos one of his mates tried to do the same thing and gave up gave turbo to him
