I will also be getting some high grade flexplate bolts but not sure how well they will do the job untill I get them landed Thats a bit rich dont you think? For my new engine; I had my new studs made custom locally. AT just under $20 each custom length in METRIC. And $0.50c for the nuts and another $0.50 for the High Tensile Washers. All these are made to grade 12.9 specs, so if your familiar with bolts you will know what i mean. BTW In my last engine I made 400RWHP with std head bolts and the multilayer gasket.... And it held up well.... SO i think you are making unneccessary work for yourself mate... Each to their own... What power are you hoping to make out of this new engine?

Please tell me who make your custom 12.9 bolts. I've made a few enquiries into custom bolts and no one is really interested in low volume.
Are your bolts a cut thread or rolled thread.

Not a Ford but I have gone from 10mm bolts to 11mm studs in my 1UZ motor..
We just drilled and tapped existing threads.. Maybe some ARP studs can be done using G.M or another brand where arp parts are available?? In my case we used Nissan GTR ARP head studs... Just need studs off an engine with correct length... Or where there's enough thread on stud to shorten?? Alittle...

Bolts dont fit, too short. TE Jet, you didnt mention whether your bolts were rolled thread or cut thread.

but, there is a big BUTT here..
thats plainly and simply the grade of the steel... which means nothing if the threads are weak as piss... majority of the critical strength begins with the very BEST thread.

So you have a cut thread (with a course thread on top), standard nut and washer for $21.
So I supplied a highest quality rolled thread stud (a fine pitch top thread), ground flat hardened washers, a twelve point nut for $25 each and you call this rich???. Yeh I know its a 1/2" stud and the block has to be tapped for the new thread but its not "a bit rich" as you claim. I am not knocking the cut thread solution as it will work and I have used manufactured studs with cut threads for a triumph engine but your comment of "a bit rich" is like comparing a chinese made copy watch with a swiss made original watch and saying the swiss one it "a bit rich". Do people a favour and post the details of the person who is manufacturing the cut thread solution so that if people want to go down this way they know who is prepared to make small quantities at a reasonable price.

Sorry My mistake. I should read the product brocure of components I purchase more often. The threads are rolled, then they are heat treated. And work out to be $270 a set of 14, inc Tax, I had a multiple item invoice happening.. Anyway, i just like the idea of not having to mess around with cutting threads into blocks. I have forwarded this info over to Jim Mock Motorsport if you want the details. Say hi to Joe for me.

I sent the info package I had to them, so they could "VERIFY" the studs are good enough, and will be safe to use, without having issues. I thought it best they double check all my measurements etc.
