Hi, Thanks for the enquiry - we have a few variations for the SOHC 6 cyl Ford engine: Custom forged Atomic pistons – 8.4:1 comp ratio with piston crown cooling - an Atomic exclusive! · Mahle nitro carburised rings · Our billet “Superleggera” conrods #306200 600Kw – 6.060” C/C, bushed for floating pins, ARP 2000 bolts, cylindrically ground tunnels (not honed) and pressure fed gudgeons - an Atomic exclusive also! · ACL Competition bearings to suit · Hi temp Silicon rear main oil seal · Atomic 12mm Head stud kit · 8 litres Run in turbo rated oil - works brilliantly with our rings for quick bed-in and good sealing · Oil filter · Fully detailed installation instructions

Just checked out their website, very good. Looks like they know what they are doing.

I'm interested in their silicon rear crank seal. They wouldnt make it but one of the major gasket makers must do it.
I did some measurements today to work out the most economical way to attack bolts and spacers for TE Jets stud girdle. 12mm spacers would allow the use of AU main bolts (the main bolts would be about 1mm from bottoming on the thread, this being good as maximum use of the thread). And this would allow the sump to bolt on with a couple of mm clearance on the most rear main cap. But I can see having spacers made up quite expensive. I am thinking of butchering my AU gurdle, removing the spacers, trimming them down close to 12mm on a lathe then getting my machinist to grind all of them down to identical heights. Or if anyone knows where to get hold of thick walled pipe around 20.9mm OD and 13.8 ID which is of a suitable steel to make spacers, I would make them, but making out of solid round bar is too time consuming for me. The Ford ones are just steel pipe of these dimentions machined to fit.

turbotrana - I used 10mm spacers for my girdle. This allows the girdle to sit just off the mains caps. I turned them down out of Dia 20mm high tens rod, then centre honed them to dia 13mm. At the same time I also turned up a small neck at the top of them to guide themselves central into the holes in the girdle. They take about 7 mins ea on a lathe. I have access to these at the workshop. They all work quite well.
I am negotiating to get a batch of 300 made up, to suit my CNC cut girdles, then from there I can formulate a total price.

Ok but if you use 10mm spacers, then you wont be able to use a AU main bolt as it will bottom out. So then for the sake of 2mm and having the cheap AU bolt option it would be better having a 12mm spacer and having that neck, much the same as in the original AU girdle.
I could do it on my mates lathe also but if the price and quality for the spacers and girdle are right then I am waiting.

Ummm ?? Is it possible to grind 2mm off the thread end of bolt ??
Less hassle....

Yes its possible but it would be easier to make the spacers 12mm instead of 10mm and it wouldn't cost any extra time.
You know what its like cutting down bolts, you can never cut/grind the ends so they screw in first time. I rang up Atomic about their silicon hi temp rear main seal. They have these for $22.50 All this fuss I made about HEAD STUDS for the E series and bludy Atomic have been making them since 2000 !!!!!!!!!!!!. I told him to put them on his website as I had checked their website many times. THey are $340 from them.

In the specs on my Windsor Dart build .. It says to leave studs JUST proud of bottoming out OR tapper stud and torque to 20 Lb with thread sealer.. I guess the tapper is designed to centre stud ?? The Dart block has blind threads.. As does 1UZ... I left them 1/2 turn from bottoming out as studs have to come out to take heads off while in car... Not that I want to have to ...

Threads are CNC turned - tensile strength is 180,000psi. Nuts are 6 point. Did you know that the threads in all nuts (inc ARP SPS A1 etc) are cut also?? Nuts and washers are actually ARP - we buy them in bulk ( like the bolts for our conrods)
this is what they sent. can anyone confirm this information |

I am selling a set of head studs to suit the 4.0L engine. They have been used on my engine for about 20mins of run time. I have discontinued this project to to work commitments etc. So anyone interested send me a message and make a FAIR offer.
