Providing tune and everything is spot on. Rollin on boosted falcon made 324rwkw on 14psi but killed the motor in 6 days (fresh rings/bearings, wasn't given a chance to run in, was straight to Powercruise). I'd aim for 250/260 on 10-12psi, that should be nica and reliable, and wake up the 6!

A friend of mine has a std engine with cam & valve springs..
Runs low 11's so far due to auto issues, but seems to have been sorted.. He pushes 18Lb / 22 Lb with 370 rwkw.. With alittle N20 off the line.. Yes std rods and pistons !!! Poverty pac racing.. The tight assss... If you want a bullet proof trans ?? Either T5/6 or convert to TH350 / TH400 3 speed.. To modify a C4 to the same power levels is going to cost more... A nr std TH400 can take the torque of a good turbo and there's sooo many mods can be done quite cheap.. Dellow sell conversion adapters along with Castlemaine rod shop..

Yep, none at all. Turbo's require load to work. With an auto you can load your turbo up off the line. With a manual you need to drag the clutch whilst being on the brakes. Too tricky to get decent consistent results. Alternatively you could get a 2 stage drag clutch like the outlaw 10.5 guys run but your clutch would cost more than a complete race prepped auto gearbox.

They are JUST strong enough on a healthy N/A engine... The soft clutch's helped t5's in the last of them... There's no warranty on clutch wear BUT there is on trans breakage... The more power you make an auto gets better and better.. Far easier to put power to the ground... Unless your into circuit racing an auto is far better with high power... No clutch to wear out... Can drive an auto rather hard all day.. Where a manual will require maintenance in clutch area ..

I say that because that comment is what an apprentice magazine mechanic would say. Once you sit down and get your head around how it all works then you'll realise just how wrong your mates are. |

You priced up a 6 speed manual supra box? Yes there are conversion kits out there but they are useless if you can't s**t out the required ammount of blank cheques to pay fir the darn things.

Depends on quite a number of things.
If the motor is already built and running then it all depends on how the motor makes its power as to what you do with your box/stally. If the motor hasn't been built yet then you have to sit down and note what you want out of the motor and then build the driveline to suit. I don't know anyone who built a motor to suit their driveline. As for the worn vs built it also depends again on the intended use of the car. You don't build a 9 second car and whack a 700,000km ex taxi box behind it and you don't spend 10k on a 2500hp drag box to put behind a car that only makes 200kW and very rarely see's 100% throttle. If you are sensible then even the weakest box can live behind the most powerfull engine. The deciding factor is your right foot and what you choose to do with it. |

stock 5 speed supra box capable of 800hp can pick one up for $500 plus the custom bellhousing and modify the crossmember, probably cheaper to get a t5z and changeover the input shaft
