hey guys,

I'm going twin turbo on my ebii, more for show that power! but I'm just wondering what should I upgrade if I wanted to go for a bigger boost? I know that for a stock engine you shouldn't run more than 5-8 psi but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I spend hours on here and google but couldn't find a straight answer anywhere. suggestion?

wat sort of power are you aiming for????

Gearbox is the weak link really. Bottom ends can handle decent power with a freshen up, and the diff should be fine as it is maybe a spool to help strengthen it?

I'm really aiming for big numbers but I'd around the 200 mark would be nice, do you mean mini spool? i heard they wear out fast and are illegal for street cars?

correct on bot counts, and they pretty much destroy every thing that goes with them, axels, unis, gearboxes, diff gears, you get my drift.

You can achieve the 200rwkw mark with a single sturbo setup. If your after looks, bettor off going with a big high mount setup, lots of turbo bits for people to look at, all the unsightly bit can be hidden quite easy.

Power: 482 rwkw

With auto ?? Up to 270 rwkw is reliable / durable without stupid driving and GOOD tune..
Which means bigger injectors, fuel pump and aftermarket ECU...
If it's a manual T5 GOOD luck.. An auto is quicker anyway !!!

With drivetrain a LSD is best, the std diff will take this power EASY...
Check the Locker which fits in std hemisphere..
http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/index.php?id=29
Firmer bushes is suspension will help....
When Auto fails they usually fit V8 parts which are kevlar coated..
With higher line pressure so changes are sharper...
Fit a BIG trans cooler and you'll be fine...

mini spool or lock right FTW

The mini spool itself doesnt wear out, but it puts extreme loads on a very small section of axle, causing the ends of the axle to twist and fail. The locked effect of a spool also adds stress to the wheel studs, uni's, diff and wheel bearings. Not worth the hassle IMO. Mini spools were inveted for speedway, for use on dirt. Not for tarmac use. People use them, sure, but that's not what they are for. Drag and circuit cars use a full spool, which replaces the entire centre hemisphere, the ring gear bolts to the spool, the bearings press onto the spool, the axles have a lot of spline contact on the spool. Most axle manufactureres will not even warrant there axles for use in a mini spool application.
Fot the street, even with big power, a properly set up and maintained LSD is usually fine, or a diff lock, like EVL98 (matt) is using in his boat. 8-)

auto quicker? even in standard form? thought the extra power would make it somewhat slip

A $5 shift kit fixes the slipping. It's definitely needed or it will slip.

Quicker becuase no gear changes which drops boost. Quicker because you can spool a turbo before takeoff.

Not quicker on a non turbo nugget.

That shiftkit didn't work for me. Look for one that turbotrana speaks about. It's better.

Converters don't create lag....

yes, the Lokka is a real option. They are around the $500 + fitting.

Stock EA-D motors are good for around 300rwkw and 15ish psi if they are in good condition.
