ok, my mate is thinking about throwing some cash at his BA xr6 turbo (stock) and was wondering how far he can go on stock internals... he is thinking about going as far as the snort performance stage 3 kit with the TO4 etc...of course, flash tuner, exhuast, injectors and fuel pump etc he has to do first...

any referneces on how much the stock engine can handle would be greatly appreciated...

Not much point in buying a snort kit if it already turbo. Snort kits are for non turbo falcons.

Do intercooler, intercooler piping, injectors, fuel pump, valve springs, dump pipe, cat and get an edit with a custom tune. That should be enough for 300+rwkw.

if you really want some good info go take a look at www.fordxr6turbo.com forums because they have some of the best tuners in australia on there who have really put some research and development into these cars. I'm sure he'll be able to find out what he needs and who to go to around his area as well

Yep, that list sounds sufficient.
The factory turbo is well big enough, leave snort well alone, not required at all, just some custom exhaust s**t.

http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/falcon/phase_iii.htm $4000 for 10 second bracket?

Pretty good value if you ask me.

ok i read the aps blurb, so they reckon the engine internals are good for around the 400rwkw mark, not bad for a stock motor it seems...

but still, a bigger turbo from snort could push more than the aps system i reckon, most of it is apparently in the tune...

anyone know the highest rwkw numbers achieved so far on stock internals?

No they are not.

You will need internals before you need a bigger turbo.

Rods are not reliable after anywhere from 340-380rwkw. Series 1 rods are weaker.

Snort kit is waste of cash as the stock turbo is good for 400rwkw.

valve springs will go before pistons on the xr6T motor.

go nizpro or aps for sure. the bigger turbo from snort is gonna do f**k all unless u want 450+rwkw, and would be 1 of that last mods u would do.

pritty sure some people have gone 500+rwkw on stock internals(not including valve springs), but not lasting that long.

no need for a bigger turbo...

IIRC there was a white BA XR6T a while ago that managed a 9.98 second pass on the stock turbo

Have you seen the Street Fords Forced Induction Handbook??

This volume chronicles a 7 stage development of a BA XR6T ute
culminating in 313rwkw, all on stock internals. A fascinating read.
This handbook came out as a bonus in a recent issue of the magazine.
