Make sure the variable manifold [bbm?] is open all time with forced induction...
Any idea how to do this?

that be the ideal way.

Even better would be porting out the guts of the bottom half, although im not sure how to go about it, cause i took the lower half to a metal fabricator to get a quote and he looked at me funny and said none of his tools would be able to do it without butchering everything?

it is called power porting, and a speacial thick abrasive sludge is used and pushed through the manifold to make it larger
not really worth it

id would just disconect the vacum actuactor and leave it on the long intake

if u want to get serious a new plenum would be the next step

If I disconnect the vacum line that would mean the butterflies stay shut wouldn't it? So the long runners are being used constantly. AFAIK I'm after the oposite of this, I want the butterflies open so the short runners are avaliable constantly.

I've yet to see a plenum which retains the throttle body in the factory location area. I can't have it move to the EA-ED style as that's were the blower is.

I was hoping for a less permanent method first to ensure that it's the right way to go...

Does that method actually work or are you asking if it would work?

Butterflies are open (short runners) by default. When you apply vaccum, they close and you get the long runners.

So unplugging the vaccum hose and plugging it is the cheap and nasty way of getting what u want.

Yes... I'm told cheap and nasty is how you like it. Good luck!

You'll probably find it's a waste of time. you will notice lag right up to 3000rpm or over, especially if its a centrifugal blower. not only you'll notice the accelerator pedal feeling like a sponge, you will also notice a lost of power until you hit where blower makes boost. remember the parasitic lost? unless you already have a air by-pass valve.

if anything, I'll experiment with some exhaust reducer flange by jamming it in the intake tube. maybe it'll counter the lost of air speed velocity until the blower kicks in.

What do you reckon of that opinion guys?

What about setting it so that it opens when theres boost, instead of opening at a certain RPM? I wonder if that's possible.

I think the BBM long runners open up around the same mark as the centri blower.

I reckon you could mod the VAC actuator so they'll open the long runners after 4000rpm. I believe theres a drop in psi around 3000 to 3400rpm when the long runners open up normally, just when the centri-blower is just winding up..............
