Hi!
Decided to start saving for a complete Turbo setup but have a couple worries and questions in my mind that I'm hoping some of you could help me with. Is the I6 engine strong enough in itself to support 250-400rwkw? Would reinforced (forged) pistons, conrods, etc. be a must and a worthy investment? I'm still in the planning stage at this point and have these things written down so far: - Stage 4 Turbo Kit - EMS 8860/Wolf v5 ecu - Cam + Springs, Valves, Timing Gear, etc. - Head Ported & Polished - Reinforced/Forged Pistons, Conrods, etc. (what else part from the pistons and conrods needs to be redone? Crankshaft or something?) - 3" Exhaust - EL Distributor (running the EF coil pack at present) Is there anything else that I need to look into upgrading/reinforcing? I want something that's street legal and that will last but want it to be able to outrace 85% of the Japaniese imports (yeah I know they're made for speed but I reckon an I6 Turbo done properly would be up to par with them) Any replies are 'preciated!

250 easy but with 400kw its a must to rebuild engine.. im not sure how long the e series driveline will hold together under boost. decompress your engine and reinforce . youll definetly need bigger injectors to run that sort of power along with a bigger fuel pump and regulator. it sounds like a great project..... goodluck

You'll need an upgraded Auto box or a TKO 600 manual box to cope with that power. Also how much have you budgeted? If its any less than about $15,000 forget about a reliable 300rwkw.
If you have about 5-10 shoot for 200-230rwkw. In a lighter E-series (EA-ED) should get you mid to low 13s depending on your tyres and driving ability.

Guys be happy with 250 / 270 rwkw.. Its NOT so much for engine reliability!! Is more to with BTR transmission.. Keep in mind with the 4" stroke these engines have.. They make gob loads of torque when boosted.. Forget about a T5 even at 200 rwkw.. It just won't take the torque!! Increase BTR's line pressure and you should be fine.. If overhauling BTR fit the V8 / XR6T kevlar bands...But high line pressure gives real quick shifts and helps auto's strength, reliability...
