No not permenantly on, i had a switch to turn it on from inside the cabin but when your racing around phillip island averaging 160km + then it ended up on most of the time. Not very often when i was off boost.
With each lap just under 2min it lasted 2.5laps then ran out... Getting it to come on v=with certain boost levels would definately be a more efficient way to run it but the overall results didn;t convince me it was worth persuing any further...

An expensive, but ultimately more effective way would be to have an inter cooler spray that uses N20 or another gas.
Carbon Dioxide, though it would'nt help much if it went near your intake... Liquid nitrogen tank in the boot, with the vapouriser somewhere in the engine bay. I'm getting carried away, but you get the point...

Yes that would do the job.
I tested mine with Ice and dry ice as water coolant's and they made little to no difference...

Interesting...
Perhaps the problem was in the way the spray was covering the cooler. With airflow, the droplets might have just been spraying into one spot, and clumping together, doing SFA. Seeing as you already have the equipment, it seems a shame to just write it off as a waste of time and money. Maybe experiment with nozzle placement Aaron? I find this subject pretty interesting, even though I don't have a car with Forced Induction.

Cool, well actually i no longer have the equipment, I sold it off a while ago.
It was more of a discussion point to find out if others had beter success than i did with this or if it has limited benefits for the time, effort and money... I certainly think coverage is something to sondier. I had 2 x nozzeles firing down from above the cooler but perhaps 4 nozzeles with 2 x above firing down and 2 x below firing up would have performed better. The intercooler certainly felt cold enough to the tough but the airflow thruogh there is so fast that it doesn't have long to get cold. I went tot he snow once and pushed ice into the cooler fins and that made a difference although i suspect part of the benefit was negated because the fins stuffed with snow were then partially blocked... Mine is also a pretty big intercooler by most standards so perhaps it works quite efficiently anyway?

I can imagine the look of your car driving around with snow stuffed in the cooler.
Could have been mistaken for a high-powered, chameleon painted snow plough I guess if temps are fine, and not causing any problems, it's silly to stuff around trying to 'fix' something that isn't broken.
