hi guys
i currently have 3" intercooler piping from the turbo (t04) outlet all the way to the throttle body on the bbm. now im wanting re do some of the pipework as the pipe to the throttle body had 2 bov's when i had the raptor supercharger, so im thinking i can either move the bov from near the throttle body over to the hot side of the pipework, to make plumbing it back tidier or run a 32mm pipe accross the engine to the intake?? anyway this means some pipework mods are in order, now i have the option and availability to re do the whole pipework in 2.5", is the any down side going from 3" to 2.5" pipework?? ive heard the turbo may spool up alittle earlier due to less pipework to fill? what are your thoughts???? |

Not enough difference to be noticeable imo.
I tried it on my maverick. |

I went 2.5 inch to 3 and back again.
Actually that was just on the hot side so might be irrelevant. I would leave it at 3 inch though. |

having the smaller piping should give a slight increase down low as you would think it would increase air speed but intern will loose that tiny bit at the top end as the volume would be down but were talking about f**k all in it!!!!!!!

Im running 2.5" piping up to my maf were it exits into a 3" 45* bend, i doubt there will be a difference.
On the other hand relocated intercoolers ie w2a run much shorter piping (length) and there is a gain there. |

piping lenght is def gonna be your best gain as far as piping goes as mentioned by raptor xr the shorter the better

i think the longest part of mine is the cold side, from the innerguard around to the bbm..

I wouldn't bother changing, especially to downsize.
I'm running 2.5" with no complaints. spend the money on a plenum instead and shorten the piping

You could also go for an ED log manifold, but you will definately need a custom acc' cable...... Got a spare bbm lower?? and i'll knock one up and you can be the test mule.....hahaha Cheers Daz
