2 1/2 to intercooler then 3" from intercooler outlet to throttle body...
If Coupling is an issue fitting 2 1/2 to 3" pipe on intercooler ?? Then welding on 3" about 100 mm so 3" silicone hose can be used.. The cooler air is more dense and requires more room..

Isn't it the opposite? Don't things expand with heat generally? |

Yes expand but less dense / thiner and can move better / quicker... Colder is thicker / more dense even though it shrinks.. Unlike some body parts Lol.. One reason why intercooler pressure drops 2 or 3 Lb.. Its not 100 % restriction..

iv got 5-6psi pressure drop through my cooler at 11-12psi,im hoping its all in the cold side cooler pipes and the amount of bends in them

Whats the temp either side of intercooler ??
On rainy days on my car one side is wet the other is [almost] dry... When its on dyno you can feel the difference by touching each side..

Yeah, air expands as it gets hotter (also less dense). Don't know if there's another reason for running this setup, although its used lots (turbo outlet size to cooler, then TB size from cooler).

my temp difference through cooler is dramatic, hot side is pretty warm and cold side is cold

im also in the process of building a ef turbo aswell standard engine maybe a cam later on 5 speed manual lsd diff snort stainless manifold ,,snort spt 88 turbo twin internal wastgate water oil cooled 38mm bov with plumback attachment ,obx 12.1 fuel reg walbro 032 fuel pump, standard computer with a chip maybe going to run from 5 to 9 psi also later on oll fit bigger injectors a mate has this same set up on his el its getting 225 rwkw at the wheels and all he is running is 3 inch exhaust all of the stuff above but only 2 inch pipe from the turbo to the intercooler than 3 inch to the throttle body ..as the tunner said alot of guys go over bord with the sise of the piping they use he said if the air fuel ratios are good , the air from the turbo to the throttle body is a smooth flow and the engine timing is just right he said u dont need storm water drain pipe to flow the compressed air to the engine all it does is makes the turbo over speed wearing it out ,,go with the sise of ur compressor out let sise and all good but agian all depends on what u want and how much money u wana spend on your car at the end off the day u can only do the speed limit any way........

Xr6t STD pipe work is 2 1/4", people have flowed well over 300rwkw, on an el the tb size is 64mm so 2.5" will be more than enough to flow 10psi, no point adding unnecessary volume to the pipe work

(not a falc engine, was a 2L 8valve 4cyl) |
