not this argument again....
it comes down to personal opinion. centi superchargers are the cheapest and hence you get what you pay for power gains wise. they loose down low, but keep building boost as the rpm loads up all the way to redline. turbos build boost off the wasted gas yes, but that means an initial exhaust restriction and a momentary lapse in delivery known as lag. modern turbo's with correct setup have very minimal lag however. So a turbo will build more power than a centri, but centri's are more engine and drivetrain freindly since they dont tend to start hitting boost unless you are over 3k rpm, which means you put less stress on the engine and drivetrain components. Then you throw an eaton or whipple supercharger in the mix which are the pick of the supercharger bunch. A good whipple setup will kill any turbo setup for initial boost and low to midrange torque. the turbo will build more top end again, but for a street driven car you really shouldnt need super boost at 5k rpm. Not to mention all will need compliance testing with your respective transport authority. so its personal opinion alligned with application and budget. Do the research the thinking and then the math to decide which path is best for you and your vehicle.

Yeah i knopw how a turbo works and there is nothing wrong with turbo chargers, they are awesome, although for someone just starting out with boost, a supercharger is cheaper and alot more fool proof, also alot more predictable to drive.

You spun a whole lot of crap.
Have you driven a well sorted turbo falcon before? |

Superchargers are more easily fitted, engineered and reliable.
i'd like to know more about this comment. easier to fit? Turbo is pretty damn easy to install. easier to engineer... explain? more reliable... again, explain There must be a reason for every supercharged eseries there is about 5 Turbo'd eseries... Turbo = cheaper Turbo = easier to get more power without big expence for ex. for you to get more then your current 9psi, you either need to risk ur current blower or ugprade to a vortech... which means new bracket, new blower, new oil feed etc. not to mention a vortech alone seems to be more expensive then your average GT35R

Im talking about an entry level turbo, i know very well a turbo is much better than a supercharger for power levels, im talking about entry level

Your an idiot.
Saying its entry level doesnt mean s**t. Entry level or not your points are wrong. |

EFFalcon:
Engineer: I was wrong, i discovered that after having written it, i was told otherwise at the beginning. Although this varies. Reliable, something i was told, yes a well sorted turbo is much better than a supercharger, but once again, i am talking about an entry level system, im not talking about someones modified falcon with $10,000 spent on the turbo alone, im talking about a kit that is installed with a basic tune and just works. Seriously, i don't care to defend what i said, i obviously came accross wrong

An "entry level" snort kit will cost less than a powerdyne kit. It will "just work" and it will outperform a powerdyne. |

my entry level turbo kit cost $2k and has as much power as a power dyne supercharged car.
the main difference... the powerdyne is running 9psi... i'm running 6psi. i wouldn't have even been able to buy a powerdyne and bracket for $2k, let alone the rest.

looks like thats settled.
both are viable options, with benefits either way. people with supercharged cars have the benefit of owning a 'rarer' car as it is

5L = supercharge it
4L = turbo it So many cheap turbo kits for 4Ls, you'd be nucken futs to pay CAPA there overinflated prices for a blower kit. Also for the cost of a SECOND HAND Vortech (No bracket), I could buy a 35/40 off a low k XR6T AND a brand new manifold from either Snort or 6boost.
