hey guys i have been doin some reseach on turbos and that just wondering why i would need a intercooler my engine bay is sealled off so why not just have the cool air running into my k&n air filter straight into the turbo instead of worring bout cooling the air though the pipes?

Do a google, there's heaps of sites that'll give you detailed info. Depending how much boost your running you can get away without one, or these alternatives just as water injection.

When you compress air it gets hot and less dense, so a cooler makes the compressed air cooler and denser, hence you can add more fuel and timing for a bigger bang ie more power, as simple as that really, but there is a lot more to it than what i have covered here.

above 100 degrees f you wil start getting detonation problems.
as you compress air you produce heat an intercooler scrubs the heat away from the intake charge at times above 170f. down to around 80 to 90f.

oh tru but then why isn't there a intercooler to cool the air before it goes in the engine froim the turbo

Intercooler goes between the air compressor (be it turbo or supercharger) and the thorttle body. |

look here is my car.
comes from the turbo into the bottom of that radiator looking thing and gets cooled and out the top and back to the engine.

Depends if the car is good or bad.
You want to start with a car that is good. Then research into turbo's and realise they are not as good as superchargers, then research those. Go talk to a few mechanics that work with boost, find out what supercharger will suit you best. Superchargers are more easily fitted, engineered and reliable. The Powerdynes are known for their reliability and addition of 50% power increase to the car, they do not require oil lines to be fitted, an intercooler is not required, water injection is a good idea though. Boost: 3-9psi, im running 9psi on a Powerdyne. Vortech Superchargers seem like the shiz, they run 9-14psi but more engine work is needed (exhaust, extractors, maybe more as i dont know) Check out www.capa.com.au (Also look into what type of supercharger will suit your needs, their are positive displacement ones as well as centrifugal) Dont be scared to buy a secondhand kit off ebay either, i dont know exactly whats required there, but i know the bearings in the sc's can be stuffed, this is unlikely for this one below, though http://cgi.ebay.com.au/XR6-Supercharger ... dZViewItem Its a very, very expensive path to go down, you would be better off doing what i did, sell up your current car and buy one that has already been modified, get it checked out with an RACV inspection. why arent Turbo's as good as superchargers, IMHO in street use, a turbo is better; Dyno, turbo is better; drags, supercharger. Turbo's make power utilising otherwise wasted exhaust gases, superchargers use crank power, sucking power from the motor before building boost
