I turboed my el about six months ago and within five minutes of driving it the turbo died when it hit boost the first time, it was a t3 with t4 internals and the wastegate was set for 9psi, I was wondering whether or not the vacuum line from the wastegate not being connected to anything would have caused way to much boost and just spun the turbo to pieces? First time turboing by myself so any advice will be appreciated

Overboost would have killed your engine not the turbo.
What kind of turbo was it? |

Not surewhat brand but it was a t3 with t4 internals it was second hand in a whole setup so whether it was f**k or not I don't know but it ran fine idling and giving it a rev

The fins were sitting in the pod and in the intercooler the shaft is bent and there was oil on the housing

Na nothing in there but there is a fitting on the wastegate and one on the intake side that aren't joined up that wouldn't have done it?

Na the intake pipe to the throttle body has a barb fitting plumbed into it

Yeah I'm just making sure it wasn't anything to do with those fittings that made it destroy itself, I don't want to buy a new one and have the same happen

Plenty of oil, and apparently there is, t3 body with t4 internals

well see t3 and t4 refer to the footprint sizes, for example a GT4202 is available with either t4 or t6 footprint.
