first of all. How much horsepower is this engine realisticly going to make?

and what makes you think a 65mm tb is not big enough?

well it made 460, which is plenty. but going to alot of trouble making a plenum, why not make it with a tb as big as the pipe work. it's no harder

i think the xf ones are 72mm,

i would say the billet ones are the go, but i think they require a little moding for tps.

i wouldent mind 1 myself. ive never like the fact that my car has 75mm piping from start to finish then has to go through the 65mm throttle body at the end.

ill probably go a 80mm at some stage

we made 500hp through a 50mm tb and 2.5inch piping, 2L 4cyl turbo.
65mm is plenty enough for that sort of power and more.

your right though. it's no harder, but it cost $$$$ for no reason.

mine was rwhp, but your right tickford 6. really my point to doing a plenum is to get the tb at the front, if it makes any more power thats a bonus,

I've put an 80mm one on my car, and to be honest its a big stuff around getting the linkage ration right to get the butterfly to open all the way, hocking up the TPS and then there’s the problem of trying to adapt an idle air controller..

With no return springs on it was fine, but after I hocked them up it needed a little modification to get it open 100%(very small). Some of my original post was referring to the issues I knew you had also..

I used the standard ford one, and just made up a small adapter plate to fit it. I'm using an XF EFI idle controller but I'm having a few issues getting it to bleed enough air through. When I get some more time to work on the car I'll have a look at the setup on it, I think the frequency I'm using is incorrect.

what freq are you using, mines perfect on 153hz..

i cant see there being a problem with iac volume, i have a monster cam which gives stuff all idle vacummn, and my idle control is fantastic, maybe you just need to open the butterfly a tad more.. you should get it to a point where it will idle at the required speed when warm without using the idle valve, that shows you are using enough throttle stop adjustment... then, the iac valve can adjust it for cold start and idle up

another thing to consider, is ign timing can be used effectively to help with idle control... maybe look at running more idle ign timing and setup the map to prevent stalling

I cant remember the frequency mine is running, but it'll be worth looking at. I've set the butterfly the way you described, its really just when the car is cold and because I’m running an auto its not adjusting enough when put into gear. I did have it working 100% with the old throttle body but I’ve somehow lost the settings from the wolf for the IAC setup. I haven’t had a chance to work on the car for 3 or more months now because of work commitments. Hopefully I’ll get back into it during Feburary and get everything sorted then…
