well my EB pulled 182RWKW on 7psi but leaned out, now i know im running a stock ECU still but i dont get why im leaning out. i have a bosch 044 with 24lb injectors an a adjustable reg set to 50psi on idle. got told by the guy who did the dyno run that if i put anymore than 50psi at idle i would fowl plugs just cruising. Its just that ive seen ppl pull 200+ with the same setup, now i am happy with 182 dont get me wrong, just thought i would post this to see if i was missing something. thanks

You could try a 4 to 1 rising rate fuel reg [FMU]???
I don't really like them. They are o/k for small boost like blowers where boost is very lineal.. Then drop initial fuel pressure down to 38 to 42Lb ?? I'd say you require some spark retard on boost ?? Either J3 port tune or MSD retard box ?? Colder plugs with tighter plug gap with forced induction too...

Gday mate, you need some kind of system to raise fuel pressure under boost if your going to keep those injectors on stock ecu/tune. Vortech 12:1 fmu will work well (ive found the cheapo ebay ones dont work properally), or pm me for details/price on our rising rate fuel system. Ive made 240rwkw on 24lbs injectors @100psi fuel pressure.

the higher the fuel pressure the less chance the injectors have of opening correctly.
If your maxing the injectors, then i would recommend looking at upgrading the injectors to 36 or 42# injectors and retuning to suit, you wont get any more power from the 24# injectors with the correct amount of fuel pressure |

i was using a 12:1 fmu but it fuked up only pulled 170 wit it an i leaned out. 24lb injectors should be good for 220 easy i thought, i have bosch black leads an plugs wit a .8mm gap. I do intend on getting a J3 chip wit some 42lb injectors. Atm im using a adjustable rising rate reg only becos a mate is using one on his turbo Eseries wit success. His is set to 60psi at idle an i even know of another Eseries running 75psi at idle (very rich)

Yep using 12 to 1 forces injectors to open statically essentially just dumping fuel...
Up to a point these work.. They put MASSIVE pressure on your fuel pump to deliver the amount of fuel.. Another thing.. These can be made to work on dyno but for every day motoring ?? They can have there issues... Yep some 36 / 42 Lb injectors and tune to run them with Walbro 225 in tank pump... The std fuel reg is rising rate at 1 to 1... Btw leaning out on dyno is not safe!! Be aware of OHS.. Lol...

I dont like running more than 100psi even though ive tested up to 120psi with no injector problems. Your hardly ever goin to be on full boost for more than 10-15 secs at a time in a decent powered street car so providing your using a decent high pressure pump its not too bad, not ideal but works on a budget. The problem ive found with most cheap 12:1s is they are all over the place pressure wise, on boost might be 100psi then next time only 80psi if your lucky, most wont raise over 60psi if at all, or stick on full fuel pressure. Why not try them extra injectors off a boost switch if you have no cash atm, better than lean as.

i installed the FMU again an it ran rough as huts on boost so gonna ditch that, but fuel filter has been changed, havent checked all the lines but was gonna this weekend. might chuck the 19lb injectors back in just to see if it runs any better cos a mech from my works said the spray pattern might of fuked up cos i put diff injectors in. but gonna buy a J3 in the next month anyways an get it runnin propely

put the standard injectors in and use the 12:1 rising rate reg and run it on the lowest boost setting possible.
that way a least it will run normal off boost and give you some ability to drive it on boost - but avoid boosting it. buy the J3 chip, put the adjustable fuel reg on with your 24lb injectors and then use the J3 to tune it. you will be able to tune injectors and spark upto 10psi through the J3 meaning there is no need for the 12:1 rising rate reg, doing it this way will ensure more accurate fuel delivery. i would never, ever run a falcon boosted with a standard ECU and no tuning done as the final setup - even with the 12:1 reg. you got all the right info on boosted mate, you're on the right track, just have to wait til you get the J3 chip, resist thrashing it until then or you will melt a piston

get the chip and burner through jason at tiperformance.com.au
he will provide support through these forums and there is a much larger user base (ie. general falcon owners) who have experience tuning their own cars using his chip and tunerpro RT. to give you an idea, there is alot of info and support on the site (http://www.tiperformance.com.au/technical.html) including a tuning guide (http://www.tiperformance.com.au/Technic ... 0Guide.pdf)

Jesus Christ brother.
You need to stop pinching every last penny or your setup is never going to work. Buy a proper Vortech FMU and get a chip off Jason. |
