Hi guys, I have found a blower on the interwebs, will I be able to fit it to my fairmont frankieh style or will it be too big? It's a M122 blower from a 2010 GT500 with under 1k miles, 2.8" pulley. I know frankieh is/was doing the m90 in his car, how much bigger is the m122? Cheers guys!

No Such thing as a M122. It is an M112.

MP90 at 12,000rpm (blower rpm) is just over 550cfm at 5psi. At 10psi it is about 525cfm.

M112 at 12,000rpm is about 720cfm at 5psi and 690 at 10psi.

Volumetric efficiency is also higher at 5psi (95%) than 10psi (91%), air temp at 5psi and 12,000 rpm is approx 130deg F and at 10psi at 12,000rpm it is approx 200deg F.

HP required at 12,000rpm for MP112 is 34hp at 5psi and 52hp at 10psi.

HP required at 12,000rpm for MP90 is 25hp at 5psi and 40hp at 10psi.

As you can see the MP90 is very efficent and can handle the 4.0l well. Increasing PSI is basically a waste of time with the Eaton as can be seen from the above figures, you get less flow and higher temps.

There is an M122, and as described it what was fitted to the GT500.

I wouldn't say no straight away, but they are a fair bit longer than the m90 Frankieh is using.

The integrated inlet elbow on the GT500 M122 adds a lot of length to it and I reckon it would be located just about directly above the engine mount.

I think your best bet would be to try and find a MP112, MP90, or if you're lucky an MP112HH.
Or consider looking for the newer magnuson range using the new Eaton TVS rotors. (R1650, R1900, R2300, etc)

This is the pic I got of the unit. I have seen on a couple amurican forums that they swap in the m122 rotors into the 112 housings, would this mean they are the same size? Cannot find specs on the shelby blower... According to the drawings the m112 is 480mm long to the front of the snout, ill have to get stuck in with the tape measure tonight after work. Would the 122 be overkill on my motor? Be better off with the 90?

Unless it's well below it's optimal operating range, a bigger blower can be a benefit as it can spin slower to give the same boost giving lower intake temps.

I've read of guys spinning the 90 very fast in the US for 20+ psi, but they're intercooled.

The 90 has a small benefit of the shorter rotors, with same degree of twist as the 112, having a higher helix angle which improves it's efficiency. Spinning the 112 to a similar speed results in the rotors not having enough time to fill properly.

I'm only looking at running 5-10 psi boost. A j3 should handle that yeah?

The snort kit uses a 112 for 5 or 9psi.

The only limitation using a J3 is the actual map sensor which has a hissy fit at around 10psi.
The J3 will cope all the way up to the cut off.

Update: price is right for the charger, got a reasonable shipping quote, gonna confirm with the seller in the next couple of days. Hopefully boost will be on its way! I seriously doubt it will fit frankieh style, will have to buy/fabricate a snort style manifold.

This should give you an idea of how big the unit is.
In the picture is an M112 from the SVT Cobra to early 2000's.

Here's a comparo of the MP112 vs the SVT M112

The GT500 unit is a tad bigger than the SVT M112.

That's the way ill end up doing it I reckon. I'll need to update my shopping list haha.
Walbro 255 fuel pump.
42-60lb injectors.
Wade 1521a.
Pacy 4480's.
J3.
Intake manifold.

My motor has done 246000 k's so I am thinking of buying a spare el motor and rebuilding/freshening it up ready for boost. No forgies or anything, just new bearings, gaskets, timing chain kit, oil and water pumps. I haven't forgotten anything have I?
Just thought of some more stuff to get, new valve springs, xr6 fuel reg, new dizzy+coil.

Frankieh's engine.

If you got a short snout you could fit a fairly big unit in there.
Dunno how much room there would be to the shock tower for the inlet of the GT500 unit though.

I doubt the m122 will get in there, it looks waaaayyyyy too cramped in there.
I was thinking of fabbing up a custom manifold like a snort style but with a w2a core in it.
l /// <--heat exchanger
Intake runner l /// l
-----------------------l. /// l
/// l
/// l <-blower face
-----------------------l. /// l
l. /// l
l

That will work I reckon....
